For the third straight year, the USTA Pro Circuit will make a US Open dream come true.

In the US Open Wild Card Challenge, the American man and American woman who earn the most ATP World Tour and WTA ranking points at select USTA Pro Circuit hard-court events will earn main-draw wild cards into the US Open. Only Americans who did not earn direct entry into the US Open are eligible.

All tournaments will be streamed live. The first event of the challenge, The FSP Gold River Women’s Challenger, is taking place this week in Sacramento, Calif.

The women's events that comprise the US Open Wild Card Challenge include this week's $50,000 tournament in Sacramento; the USTA Player Development Women’s $50,000 Classic in Carson, Calif., the week of July 14; and the $50,000 Kentucky Bank Tennis Championships in Lexington, Ky., the week of July 21.

The men's tournaments in the challenge include the $50,000 Levene Gouldin & Thompson Tennis Challenger in Binghamton, N.Y., the week of July 14; the $50,000 Kentucky Bank Tennis Championships in Lexington, the week of July 21; the $100,000 Odlum Brown VanOpen in Vancouver, B.C., the week of July 28; and the $100,000 Comerica Bank Challenger in Aptos, Calif., the week of Aug. 4.

The USTA first used the US Open wild-card format for its 2012 wild cards, won by Steve Johnson and Mallory Burdette, both of whom went on to reach the third round of the US Open that year. The 2013 winners were Bradley Klahn, who won his first-round match at that year's US Open, and Shelby Rogers.

The USTA also utilizes this format for the French Open through the Har-Tru USTA Pro Circuit Wild Card Challenge, where this year’s women’s winner, Taylor Townsend, was a top story at Roland Garros, reaching the third round. Veteran Robby Ginepri won the 2014 men’s French Open wild card.

The 2014 US Open main draw will be held Monday, Aug. 25, to Monday, Sept. 8.

Information on the US Open Wild Card Challenge will be available at www.procircuit.usta.com and on Twitter through @USTAProCircuit.
