Four teams left in the running for JTT National Championships

Cayce, S.C. -- The final round of JTT 18U National Championship round robin play ended Saturday morning with Intermediate play at Cayce Tennis and Fitness Center and Advanced play at Lexington County Tennis Complex. Four teams from each division went on to battle for the Championship in afternoon games.
18U Intermediate Division
In Intermediate play, Caribbean’s Ohana Mau Loa rose above Flight 1 competition over Texas (58-17), Middle States-WC (59-23) and Pacific Northwest (47-46) sections to take on Midwest’s Port Huron Predators who knocked out Flight 2 teams from Southern-WC (53-31), Southwest (40-39) and Northern (60-29).
Flight 3 was won by Eastern’s JAMF Drop Shots who rolled past Florida (52-39), Southwest-WC (47-44) and Mid-Atlantic (51-46) earlier in round-robin play, but won the flight on total games won to take on Flight 4 winner Southern’s CCL ACE Tennis team, who defeated Hawaii Pacific (60-5), Missouri Valley (54-40) and New England (52-35).
Port Huron Predators defeated Ohana Mau Loa (52-43) and JAMF Drop Shots defeated CCL ACE Tennis (48-45) Saturday afternoon in the Intermediate 1st-4th bracket. Midwest and Eastern will face off in the Intermediate Championship match at 9:00 a.m. tomorrow morning.
18U Advanced Division
In Advanced play, Texas’ ATA Dream Team rose above Flight 1 competition over Southern-WC (60-14), Middle States (60-14) and New England (60-22) sections to take on Florida’s 904 Tennis team who knocked out Flight 2 teams from Eastern-WC (56-19), Midwest (55-35) and Pacific Northwest (59-27).
Flight 3 was won by Southwest’s TW Ducks who rolled past Caribbean (54-48), Mid-Atlantic (51-29) and Southern (49-41) section teams to take on Flight 4 winner Northern’s Fred Wells Advanced team, who defeated NorCal (54-33), Southern-WC2 (42-42) and Missouri Valley (49-39).
ATA Dream Team defeated 904 Tennis (59-33) and TW Ducks defeated Fred Wells Advanced (45-41) Saturday afternoon in the Advanced 1st-4th bracket. Texas and Southwest will face off in the Advanced Championship match at 8:00 a.m. tomorrow morning.
Teams that did not progress through the championship bracket will compete in consolation matches Sunday to determine their national rank in Intermediate and Advanced divisions. For a complete competition schedule and results, please visit www.ustajtt.com.
