Southwest Tennis Foundation
February 15, 2017
As the fundraising arm of USTA Southwest, the SOUTHWEST TENNIS FOUNDATION, INC. is a separate 501 (c)3 entitiy that provides financial support for the mission of the Section, which is to "promote and develop the growth of tennis" throughout Arizona, New Mexico and El Paso County, Texas.
Since the creation of the Southwest Tennis Foundation in 1996, it has raised funds for, and given many thousands of dollars in scholarships and grants to promising junior players, and to programs that develop and support a wide range of tennis activities. That includes those of special populations and diverse groups.
The Southwest Tennis Foundation has also given money to events whose goals are aligned with developing our sport at a wider and deeper level. Additionally, adult education scholarships have helped get volunteers to training workshops that give them the skills to go out and develop and improve the quality of grassroots programs in their local communities.
The Southwest Tennis Foundation is 100% reliant on donations and fundraising efforts to fulfill its charitable good works in our tennis communities. Our mission is simple: To Enrich Lives Through Tennis & Education.
We are always looking for help to get the word out about the mission of the Southwest Tennis Foundation, to raise additional funds, and to recruit and educate more volunteers to help us in this endeavor. Contributing to this cause is tax-deductible.

Funding Opportunities from Southwest Tennis Foundation
COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
The Southwest Tennis Foundation attempts to assist our deserving young USTA Southwest members and players with opportunities to earn money that will go towards college expenses. These awards are given out to high school seniors who will be attending college the following year.
These scholarships are need-based, require high academic achievement, participation in USTA Southwest or other tennis programs, and, course, are open only to USTA Southwest members.
Three (3) letters of recommendation must also be sent to Committee. Address to mail those letters is inside the application. These are required!
Deadline to apply is March 31
SAM FIELDS JUNIOR SCHOLARSHIP
One of our annual scholarships is named after legendary USTA Southwest official SAM FIELDS, who passed away in 2010. The following year the Foundation decided to establish a scholarship that would live on in his name. Fields was a man of integrity, fair play, and he had a soft spot for our USTA Southwest junior players.
Applications for the Sam Fields Junior Scholarship can be found below.
The Sam Fields Junior Scholarship will be given to competitive juniors participating in USTA sanctioned tennis tournaments who want to join a tennis academy or high performance training program of their choice to improve their tennis skills.
Sam Fields Junior scholarship Deadlines: May 1 and Dec. 1.
Two awards for each calendar year will be given out. Award winners will be notified after their selection.
Donations to the SOUTHWEST TENNIS FOUNDATION SAM FIELDS JUNIOR SCHOLARSHIP can be made above using the PayPal link.

Foundation Success Stories
In 2010, USTA Southwest gave away college scholarships for the first time to deserving young tennis players with excellent scholastic achievements and community service (not to mention they're pretty decent tennis players!). Our Foundation's goal is to award monies to the highest quality applicants who are most in need of financial support.
