Seeding in Adult Tournaments

Although not required, it is common for a tournament to have seeds.  The Tournament Committee makes the seedings. (USTA Regulation II.A.1)  In USTA Eastern adult tournaments, the All Factors Method (USTA Regulation II. A.4.a) shall be used to determine the seedings.  The All Factors Method is based upon the players’ chances of winning the tournament and takes into consideration all reasonably available information such as rankings and standings; recent player records; surface; past tournament performance; head to head records; unsanctioned tournament results; and league results.  In senior tournaments, consideration should be given to players who are aging into a division.  It is recommended that the Tournament Committee include on the tournament homepage a request that entrants submit relevant information for seeding consideration.
