USTA St. Louis

2022 Adult Leagues Coming Soon

Josh Sellmeyer  |  July 29, 2021

For the 2021 championship year, just one more adult league offering has yet to begin play within USTA St. Louis. But ample opportunities for the 2022 championship year are on the horizon for adult players looking to put their game to the test in a fun and competitive environment.

The final 2021 championship year option is a tri-level league that starts the first week of August. USTA St. Louis offers both a men’s and women’s tri-level league. Both feature one court of 3.5, 4.0 and 4.5-level play. Competing teams have the opportunity to advance to USTA Missouri Valley Section Championships, which will occur in Kansas City October 15-17.

A newer option that USTA St. Louis began running two years ago is the mixed tri-level league. Jill Kunkel — USTA St. Louis adult league coordinator — said this non-advancing league has quickly become a very popular one in the area. Team commitments for the men’s, women’s and mixed tri-level leagues were due by July 28. Registration for all three options likewise opened that day.

“Tri-level in particular is fun because you’re on a team with players at different levels,” Kunkel said. “It helps you get to know players at the different levels since you’ve got one court of each.”

The 2022 USTA championship season, meanwhile, will kick off September 12 with the Adult 18 & Over fall leagues getting underway. Options range from the 2.5 level through the 4.5. Team commitments for these leagues are due August 12, with registration opening August 15.

“It’s a brand new championship season, so I think it’s just exciting to be a part of organized play which feeds into a championship opportunity,” Kunkel said.

After the 18 & Over fall campaign concludes, the spring season gets rolling in January 2022 and runs until May. USTA St. Louis District Championships then take place the first week of June, with Section Championships and USTA League Nationals following.
