The U.S. national team is comprised of American players currently at the top of the ITF rankings. These players will receive funding based on their ranking.

Please note that these players will not receive a hometown visit unless the national coaching staff deems necessary and funding is available. The impetus for success is no longer a coach, but simply results.

Below is a list of requirements to make the national team and receive funding. Any questions or comments, please email us

The top four players in the ITF rankings will receive national team funding if:

Men’s and Women’s High-Performance Wheelchair Tennis Teams:

  • They are in the Top 30 in the world on the ITF Ranking List
  • They are in good standing with the USTA, USOC/US Paralympics, USADA and ITF
  • Agree to play on all American teams at international events if selected

Quad Wheelchair High-Performance Tennis Team:

  • They are in the Top 20 in the world on the ITF Ranking List

Development Team:

The Development teamis for players who are at a skill level where improvement is a very “real” possibility.  This player has a working relationship with a hometown coach and national coach, and interacts with the National Team at warm-up tournaments.  These players will be chosen by the High Performance coaching staff and be approved by the department Director.

Emerging Team:

The emerging team is for players who are on cusp of playing or have played on US international wheelchair tennis teams in the Men’s, Women’s, or Quad divisions.  These players may be just entering the Open Division or have rankings that have dropped due to injury or other unforeseen circumstances.  This player has a working relationship with a hometown coach and national coach, and interacts with the National Team at warm-up tournaments.  These players will be chosen by the High Performance coaching staff and be approved by the department director.
