2023 Sportsmanship Nomination

Sportsmanship Stories

Krista was nominated by Karen - “I nominate Krista Crotty for sportsmanship for demonstrating  integrity during our match. We were playing Anna Campbell and Krista Crotty. It was near the end of the second set and they needed to win the second set to force a ten point tie break. My partner was serving 30-15. We were battling it out and Krista imperceptibly touched the ball and immediately said “I touched it”. She could have nothing. The ball landed out and they could have taken the point but that is not what she did. Integrity!”

Daniel was nominated by Christopher - “Penalized himself for "maybe" touching the net during a supertie break!! Then two points later gave a let to the other team for fear a ball from another court was too close (it wasn't)”

Daniel was nominated by Michael - “He is machine when it comes to good sportsmanship!”

Daniel was nominated by Jeffrey - “We were in a 3rd set tie breaker, and we were up 6-4.  While playing the point, Dan approached the net and hit the ball, and we hit the ball out.  After the point was over, Dan said that his racquet touched the net during his swing and he gave us the point.  This was a crucial point in the 10-point tiebreaker, making the score 7-4 us instead of 6-5, and nobody else noticed that Dan had touched the net.  This was great sportsmanship on Dan's part, and a great show of character!”

Eddie was nominated by Dan - “Eddie is a great player and an excellent example of sportsmanship.  In a tight singles match he called one of his own shots out.  He’s a lot of fun to play against and at the same time a fierce competitor.”
