2019 USTA Southwest Adult NTRP Division Regulations

Sanctioned Men's and Women's NTRP level tournaments are open to all USTA Members who have reached a minimum of 19 years of age at least one month prior to the tournament start date.  Younger players may play in Open divisions only.

Players who do not have a current NTRP rating may self-rate by completing the self-rate questionnaire on tennislink.usta.com.  Self-rated players who are determined to be playing below their true playing ability may be denied participation by the Tournament Director.

To receive a Southwest Section ranking/standing the player must hold an active USTA membership which designates the Southwest as their member section.

USTA computer rated players may not play at a level that is below their USTA year-end NTRP rating.

It is recommended that tournament directors limit the maximum point spread between partners' ratings in Combined and Mixed Events to 1.0.  Tournament Directors are required to post the maximum point spread on the tournaments home page on TennisLink.

Only USTA Sanction tournaments played within the Southwest Section will be used for calculating USTA Southwest rankings and standings.

Endorsement Criteria for NTRP National Championships

Ranking Point Information

  1. Points are calculated by where the player finishes in the main draw, plus consolation points for each consolation match won based on the designated level of the tournament.

  2. Byes do not count as wins. Defaults, retirements and completed matches count as wins.

  3. A tournament will count toward minimum qualifying requirements if a player or team starts a match.

  4. In determining the points per round ranking of any division, only results from that division will be considered.

  5. Events that are straight NTRP levels (2.5-5.0) as well as Combined Ratings and Mixed Events will be considered for Standing and Ranking Points.

  6. Doubles players will be ranked individually dependent on where the Doubles team finishes.

  7. 10 points will be awarded for participation to each player who completes one match, regardless of their finish.

  8. Standings will be calculated based on a player's results in all USTA Southwest Sanctioned NTRP Tournaments for both men and women.

  9. The Rolling Standings List is a rolling calendar which calculates standings based on results in the previous twelve (12) months.

  10. A player’s ranking/standing will be based on a player’s best four (4) tournaments.

  11. Rankings/standings will be published on a monthly basis.

  12. Tournament categories are reviewed annually by the USTA Southwest Adult Competition Committee.

  13. All USTA Southwest NTRP Sanctioned matches will be used for NTRP Rating calculations.
