PRACTICE COURTS

During the days and times when we're not using the site for match play, you can try reserving an indoor court at the following locations:

 

Galbraith Tennis Center: You can reserve a practice court at Galbraith Tennis Center by calling 253-533-1145 or clicking HERE. You must create an account when reserving a court for the first time. Court fees are based on 75 minutes of play and vary based on peak or non-peak times. Visit https://pnwtenniscenters.com/tacoma/memberships/ to learn more. Reservations can be made 2 days in advance for non-members and 6 days in advance for members.

 

Sprinker Tennis Center: You can reserve a court at Sprinker Tennis Center by calling 253-531-6300. Reservations can be made in person or over the phone up to 6 days in advance, with a credit or debit card required at time of reservation. Card will be charged for no shows and future phone reservations will not be accepted. To see the court fees, visit https://sprinkertennis.com/lessons-%26-programs.

 

Note: there are no indoor practice courts available at Lakewood Racquet Club
 

 

If the weather is nice, here are some outdoor courts (on a first-come, first-serve basis) that you could try. Keep in mind high schools are not open during school hours:

 

Outdoor Courts Near Galbraith:

  • Whittier Park (921 Contra Costa Ave, Tacoma, WA 98466)
  • Point Defiance Park (near Point Defiance Visitor Center - Google "Point Defiance Tennis Court")

Outdoor Courts Near Lakewood

  • Lakewood Racquet Club - 6 outdoor courts available at $20/court/hr
  • Curtis High School (3717 Grandview Dr W, University Place, WA 98466)
  • Lakes High School (10320 Farwest Dr SW, Lakewood, WA 98498)
  • Steilacoom High School (54 Sentinel Dr, Steilacoom, WA 98388)

Outdoor Courts Near Sprinker:

  • Sprinker Tennis Center - 6 outdoor courts available for players to use. They may be reserved in advance for a fee of $5.00/hour, or free of charge on a first come, first served basis during the event.
  • Pacific Lutheran University (12180 Park Ave S, Tacoma, WA 98447)
  • Washington High School (12420 Ainsworth Ave S, Tacoma, WA 98444)
  • Spanaway Lake High School (1305 168th St E, Spanaway, WA 98387)

MATCH COURTS INFO (see Court Sites for map)

  • Galbraith Tennis Center (1680 S Mildred St Suite B, Tacoma, WA 98465): 6 indoor tennis courts- located north of Fred Meyer in back parking lot. See entrance instructions
    • Facility opens at 6:00am on Friday and 7:00am on Saturday and Sunday
    • Courts not available for USTA until 7:30am on Friday and Sunday, and 7am on Saturday
    • Players must sign facility waiver before team's first match
    • If you're interested in a team lesson prior to the event, email GTC's Director of Tennis, Steve Wright, at swright@pnw.usta.com
    • If you plan to bring spectators, please note there is limited viewing at this location
    • For any stringing needs, contact Dickson's at (206) 522-5008 or info@dicksonstennis.com. Located on-site at Galbraith Tennis Center.
    • No alcohol, smoking, or vaping allowed
    • There is no food or drink for purchase at this location, so plan ahead
    • USTA will provide ice on site
    • Parking is available on the front and back side of the building
    • Please be respectful of club facilities and members
  •  Sprinker Tennis Center (14824 C St S, Tacoma, WA 98444): 4 indoor tennis courts, 6 outdoor - using 4 indoor
    • Doors and courts open at 7:30am on Friday. Saturday opens at 9:00am, but courts not available for USTA until 11:00am.
    • 4th court has blended pickleball lines, which we will be using
    • Towels available in Pro Shop for purchase ($5 each). Otherwise, bring your own.
    • Snack Bar is open 11:45am-1:45pm on Saturday
    • Vending machines on-site, and refrigerator & microwave for spectator/player use
    • Plenty of parking available
    • Access to ice machine - ask pro shop
    • No smoking, vaping, or alcohol allowed during weekend
    • Please be respectful of club facilities and members
  • Lakewood Racquet & Sport Club (5820 112th St SW, Tacoma, WA 98499): 4 indoor tennis courts, 6 outdoor - using 4 indoor
    • Doors open at 6:30am on Friday, but courts not available until 7:30am. On Saturday, doors open at 7:00am, but courts not available until 7:30am.
    • Players must sign facility waiver before team's first match
    • Free parking onsite. Parking on the grass is allowed. Extra parking across the street at Clover Park High School.
    • Viewing above courts 7/8 and 9/10. Please do not knock on the glass windows.
    • Snacks and beverages available in Pro Shop from 6:30am-10pm. Outside food and drinks are encouraged.  Alcohol is allowed within the club. 
    • No smoking or vaping allowed
    • Locker rooms and showers are available. Please bring your own towel.
    • Ice available on-site. - ask USTA staff
    • Please be respectful of club facilities and members
 
 

TOURNAMENT DETAILS / AMENITIES

T-Shirts: Each rostered player will receive a T-shirt. These will be polyester fabric in both men's and women's styles. Sizes are men's S-2XL and women's XS-2XL.  Captains will pick up shirts at their first match.

Photographer: USTA plans to have a professional photographer taking photos at certain sites and times during the event. In lieu of the Publicity Waiver forms, we will have a media waiver release sign at each court site which states will state that, by entering the court site premises, you agree to be photographed and/or filmed by the non-profit United States Tennis Association Pacific Northwest (USTA PNW) in connection with your participation in this event and that the USTA PNW will own any and all rights in such photography and film of you.

Tennis Balls: Penn is the official ball sponsor of USTA League. USTA PNW has agreed to invest funds to use Pro Penn Marathon balls for all 2018 Section Championships.

 

Bananas: USTA PNW will order bananas for each tournament site throughout the weekend

 

Ice: USTA PNW will supply ice to cool beverages

 

Awards: Champions and Finalists will receive awards for all rostered players. Champions will also receive a USTA PNW Section Championship banner. 2 awards will be given on-site. The rest will be mailed to the captain after all Section Championships have completed for 2018.

TIPS / REMINDERS FOR PLAYERS AND SPECTATORS

Bring Water Container: Players and spectators must bring their own water container. Water will be available for refilling a container, but there may not be any bottles or cups available on site.

Follow Host Site Rules: We are all guests of these facilities. Please pick up all trash and be respectful of management or staff. They also have their own rules in place as to what is acceptable at their facility so please obey any posted rules.
