Coaches & Organizers

Role of the Coach and Organizer in the Jr. Team Tennis Program

groupHugWithout the help of parents, teaching pros, and volunteers our juniors would not be able to compete with their friends, experience teamwork and unity, have fun, and learn life lessons on and off the court.

Each team is REQUIRED to have a Team Captain/Coach who is over the age of 21 years old. Minimum age for co-captains is 18 years old.

Many teams will have a coach to help with practices and competition and a co-captain or team manager to help with the administrative side of organizing a team.

Each team captain/coach is REQUIRED by USTA to go through a background screening process prior to the start of the JTT season.

There is no cost to go through the background screening and three steps are involved:

  1. View Safe Play Training Video Series
  2. Read the Youth Protection Policies and Procedures for USTA Jr. Team Tennis
  3. Complete your background screen application

Links to each of these steps can be found on the Background Screening Process tab below.

Everything you need to know about captaining a team can be found in the Captain/Coaches Handbook below, including how to register your players, instructions to the background screening process, how to sign into TennisLink as a coach, and how to record scores.
