ADULT Tournaments

February 15, 2017
<p><span class="articletitle">ADULT Tournaments</span></p>

Are you more the weekend warrior type, or do you just prefer old school, one-on-one warfare instead of team-based play? USTA Southwest holds tournaments across the Section throughout the year for players in NTRP levels and age divisions, including wheelchair divisions at a few select tournaments.

Age division play gives you the chance to test your tennis mettle over the course of a weekend. Your results can also get you on the way towards a Section RANKING and, possibly even a national ranking.

Tournaments typically take place from Friday-Sunday of many weekends throughout the year, though it varies by tournament. There are a wide variety of adult tournaments, both in NTRP and age division categories of play. Consult the TennisLink schedule  and follow the dropdowns to find tournaments by age, NTRP or location.

The Southwest holds an annual points chase (Adult Grand Prix Series)  in age divisions to determine the top-ranked players in each age group, with some tournaments categorized at higher points levels than others. With players playing many events throughout the year and chasing points to be the best in their divisions, it can get pretty competitive. Some tournaments at the Open level even offer prize money!

Tournament directors interested in hosting new tournaments? Tournament directors must submit a USTA Southwest sanction form prior to hosting your event each year for your tournament to show up online in the TennisLink system. For more info about hosting tournaments, contact the USTA Southwest Adult Competition Manager.
