TOC SOUTHWEST CHAMPIONSHIPS
February 16, 2017
Each of the Southwest's seven collegiate, co-ed club teams will be in Phoenix in mid-February for the Tennis on Campus Championships - USTA Southwest..
The two-day event, held at the Phoenix Tennis Center on February 17-18, is not only for Section bragging rights as the top team for another year, but the event serves as an automatic qualifier for the top two teams into the 64-team field at the 2017 USTA Tennis on Campus National Championships, held April 15-17 in Surprise, Arizona.
Last year's champion University of Arizona continued their stranglehold on the event, winning their sixth Southwest title in the last seven years, defeating rival Arizona State.
Both schools will be back to compete this year, as will Northern Arizona University, Grand Canyon University, University of New Mexico, University of Texas-El Paso and New Mexico State University - all hoping to qualify for the National Championships.
A tentative schedule will be released in early-February for the USTA Southwest Tennis on Campus Championships and a final schedule will be handed out at the captain's meeting on the first day of play.
Please be advised the schedule could change depending on weather/teams dropping out/etc.
