Back for Fall

Teams are registering, but there still spots available for the USTA Missouri boys’ high school Junior Team Tennis (JTT) fall league. The 18U JTT league was formed two years ago and is being revitalized this autumn after a one-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Courtney Nesbitt — USTA Missouri junior competition coordinator — said the offering was the first JTT league of any kind when it ran two years ago with six teams competing. For this year, Nesbitt said teams from Jefferson City, Camdenton and Lake of the Ozarks have already committed to participate.
Nesbitt anticipates the league won’t start until after September 1, with it more than likely running through October. Teams will face off a couple of times in league play,, with location and number of weeks pending based on how many more teams register and from which parts of the state.ADVERTISEMENT
Each JTT squad must have a minimum of four players and a maximum of six. Participants will get to play both singles and doubles. Registration can be completed as an individual or as a team, while full teams need to have a provider. Despite its name, the 18U boys’ high school JTT league does allow girls to participate as well. While the league is predominantly composed of males with girls in the midst of their high school tennis season, teams can still be coed. Nesbitt noted the league will likely take place on Sundays in the 3:00- 8:00 p.m. timeframe, with teams playing one or two dual matches each day.
