2019 PNW SECTIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

USTA PNW has confirmed the final details for this year's Junior Team Tennis Sectional Championship and National Qualiflyer event. This year, we will be hosting the event at the newly opened Galbraith Tennis Center in Tacoma Washington, on August 2nd and 3rd. . Please review the details below for complete registration and event information.

We encourage any 12U teams that wish to participate in Sectionals to play in the 14u Intermediate Division.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: To qualify for the championship, all teams must adhere to the eligibility equirements detailed below. No excpetions will be made and those teams that do not follow these requirements will be disqualified.
AGE: Players must be the appropriate age for their division through August 31st, 2019. For example, a player that turns 15 in July 2018, must play in the 18u division.
RATING: Players rated 3.5 or above must play in the advanced division for their age group. If you are rated 3.4 or below, you are allowed to play in either the intermediate or advanced divisions. A player’s junior NTRP rating “freezes” at the time of local registration and this rating is used for sectionals and nationals. PLEASE RELAY THIS INFO TO PARENTS IF THEY ARE SELF-RATING THEIR PLAYERS.
Player requirements: Players must play in at least two (2) separate team matches on two (2) separate days. DEFAULTED MATCHES DO NOT COUNT. Please make sure all your players that wish to qualify have played and completed the matches with a full score. MATCH RESULTS MUST BE REPORTED ONLINE WITHIN 24 HOURS TO COUNT.
Team requirements: Teams must play at least three (3) separate team matches on three (3) separate days. This should not be much of an issue since our league play is usually 6 matches in length.
COACHING RULES: Only the designated team manager will be permitted to coach during a coaching period. All team managers must be 18 years or older. Coaching will be allowed during times when players change ends at the end of a game. The following coaching policies must be followed. Any violation of these coaching policies may result in the suspension of the coaching privilege and point penalties.
• Only one person may be designated per team match as the coach of a team and must be identified with a credential.
• A coach may coach the players when the players change ends at the end of a game, including the first game, but not to delay play.
• No coaching is allowed during a tiebreak.
• No coaching allowed on changeovers in-between sets
• Coaches must remain outside of the fence.
• Coaching should be a positive reinforcement to your player and not against the opponent.
Teams with more than one team manager must designate a “head” team manager for the duration of the individual match. The team manager may report infractions to the referee, who shall then take prompt and appropriate action. The tournament director reserves the right to change or alter the coaching rules of a championship event.
SCORING FORMAT: All matches will be a pro set to 8 games with no ad scoring (7-7 tiebreak).
A team match will consist of :
one (1) girl and one (1) boy’s singles, AND
one (1) girls and one (1) boys’ doubles, AND
one (1) mixed doubles match
The team winning the most games will be determined the winner.
Each team must have a minimum of three (3) boys and three (3) girls who will participate in every team match. Only one girl and/or boy may participate in up to two (2) individual matches per team match. In no event may one player play in three (3) individual matches.
WARM UP: Each match will allow for a 7 minute warm up, including serves
NATIONALS: Following approval from the USTA and National Regulations, the PNW Sectional winners of each age/sectional division will be given the opportunity to compete at the National Championships in Texas this fall.
