Team USA now knows how it stacks up against the other nations competing in the 2022 BNP Paribas World Team Cup after the International Tennis Federation announced the provisional seedings for the competition's four events on Friday.

The BNP Paribas World Team Cup is the wheelchair tennis counterpart to the Billie Jean King Cup and Davis Cup, and 44 teams from 22 nations are set to compete for titles in the men's, women's, quad and junior divisions at the Vilamoura Tennis Academy in Vilamoura, Portugal from May 2-8 in the flagship international team competition of wheelchair tennis.

The U.S. quad team, comprised of Paralympians Bryan Barten and David Wagner and rookie Huayi "Eric" Court, is slotted the highest of the Americans' four teams as the No. 2 seed; the provisional seeding for the men’s, women’s and quad events is based on the combined rankings of the top two singles players from each nation, and Team USA benefits here from having world No. 4 Wagner and world No. 9 Barten on its roster.

The U.S. men, anchored by a trio of Top 50 players, slot in as the No. 7 seeds, while the U.S. women, led by world No. 8 Dana Mathewson, are provisionally the No. 8 seeds. The seeds are subject to change ahead of the official draw, which is scheduled for May 1.

The provisional seedings for the junior event were determined by the ITF Wheelchair Tennis Committee. Team USA, led by third-ranked Maylee Phelps of Portland, Ore., check in as the No. 3 seeds.

All four events are guided by the world rankings as of April 25. If the combined rankings are equal for two nations in any one event, the higher seeding is given to the nation with the highest-ranked individual.

Emmy Kaiser is part of the three-player U.S. women's team.

Following Sunday’s draw and Monday’s opening ceremony, three days of round-robin competition will take place in each of the four events. The top teams from each group advance to the semifinal stage, and further knockout rounds will decide the overall final standings. The women's and quad finals scheduled for Saturday, May 7, and the competition conlcudes the next day with the men's and junior finals.

The 2022 BNP Paribas World Team Cup will be streamed internationally on the ITF's social media channels, starting with the opening ceremony.
