RECORDS

With 32 titles to its credit, the U.S. Davis Cup team has set the standard for excellence in team competition for more than a century. Only one other nation has won the title more than 10 times.

Some of the greatest players in tennis history have represented the U.S. in Davis Cup, including Arthur Ashe, John McEnroe, Bill Tilden, Pete Sampras and Andre Agassi.

Team USA will be back in Davis Cup action in February 2018 when it competes in the World Group first round. Should the U.S. advance, it would play in the quarterfinals in April, the semifinals in September and the final in November. If the U.S. loses its first-round match, it would compete in the World Group Playoffs for the right to remain in the World Group.

In 2012, John Isner defeated world No. 3 Roger Federer in the World Group First Round in Switzerland in Isner’s first live singles
match. It was the first time Federer had lost to an American on clay since 1999.
