10 and Under Player Tryout

Early Development Camps are the first step in the USTA Player Development Pathway and aim to provide young tennis athletes ages 7-10 around the country an opportunity to get involved in future training opportunities using high performance standards for orange and green ball Youth Tennis. Successful EDCs located throughout the country will help grow the talent pool of junior players and create a new wave of world-class tennis professionals in the years to come.

The Eastern section will be hosting two 10 & Under player tryouts to identify promising green and orange ball players to participate in a series of three USTA Early Development Camps. The tryouts will include athletic skill development evaluations, technical and tactical development and match play observation. ADVERTISEMENT The objective is to identify player skill levels as well as intangibles such as effort, focus and competitive spirit. We encourage players to try out for the camp that correlates to the ball on which they are currently competing.

Players will be selected by the Sections USTA Lead Faculty Coaches. Selected players will then be invited to participate in two one day camps in their respective region’s orange or green ball camp in Fall 2019. The two camps will cost $160 total.

The tryout cost is $35 to attend and promises to be a fun two hours of athletic and tennis skill development.

Players can automatically qualify for the Camps if they meet the following requirements and reach out to USTA Eastern prior to the Tryouts in order to register for the Camps:

  • Orange ball: Player must be an orange L1 progression tournament player with 6 trophies by July 1
  • Green ball: Players must be a Green L1 progression tournament player with 4 trophies by July 1
