The USTA Pro Circuit is coming to Charlottesville, Va. April 22 – 29, 2018 and if you haven’t been to one of these events, put it on your list and plan to attend. This tennis event is where rising stars come to play to earn professional ranking points and gain experience needed to compete on the major pro tours and it is happening right here in our Section – for FREE! The Boyd Tinsley Women’s Clay Court Classic held at the Boar’s Head Resort and Sports Club is in its 17th year providing incredible tennis action from some of the best up-and-comers and has $80,000 in total prize money up for grabs.

 

This year's preliminary entry list includes defending champion and Washington Kastles star Madison Brengle. Other names include fellow Top 100 players Jennifer Brady, Sofia Kenin and Sachia Vickery, and 16-year-old American and rising star Amanda Anisimova will also be playing in this year's tournament. ADVERTISEMENT Although it is subject to change, the 2018 player field has the makings of the strongest in the tournament's history. See the full preliminary player field below.

 

The Boyd Tinsley Clay Court Classic kicks off on Sunday, April 22 with singles qualifying rounds and main draws beginning Tuesday, April 24. Finals for both women’s singles and doubles are Sunday, April 29. On Wednesday, April 25 USTA Mid-Atlantic and the Boars Head Sports Club will host Kids’ Day powered by Net Generation featuring fun tennis games and activities. This special event is open to ages 5 to 17 of all levels and abilities and equipment will be provided. Kids’ Day will run from 4 to 5:30 p.m. and pizza will be provided for participants. Registration is strongly encouraged to participate in this event.
