An Extraordinary Experience through Tennis

Tennis can give people some extraordinary experiences. Just ask Rosemary Esquivel.

Last weekend, Esquivel had a chance to meet and hit with the Bryan Brothers during the NJTL of Trenton annual gala. Esquivel grew up as an NJTLT participant.

"What I love most about my time at NJTLT was definitely being able to travel with the team and experience tennis at a whole new level."

For Esquivel, much of her tennis success can be traced back to her family and her roots.

"My Hispanic background means a lot to me. The way that I was raised in my Hispanic household shaped me into who I am today. I thank my parents for doing an amazing job."

Esquivel is currently competing on the women's tennis team at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, studying Pharmaceutical Sciences. As a freshman, she's earned All-CACC first team and received rookie of the week as well.

"Going to college showed me how students come from very different areas and made me become even more thankful for what I had growing up and even today."

Throughout Hispanic Heritage Month, USTA Middle States is honoring a handful of individuals with Hispanic and Latino backgrounds. Know someone who deserves recognition? Let us know by emailing communications@ms.usta.com
