2023 MIDWEST ELEVATED JUNIOR TOURNAMENT INFORMATION

The schedule for our 2023 Elevated Junior Tournaments is now available! Locations are listed and registration links will continue to be added as tournaments are published so that you can start planning your year. We've made some changes to the schedule and policies from previous years.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • To increase consistency among our tournaments, we have added specific Open Level 5 date blocks and have standardized the draw sizes. Please note that the majority of our Open Level 5s will have 24-player entry limits with the exception of February and November, which will be 16-player entry limits but with multiple locations available for each age division.

  • Review our updated Dual & Late Entry Policy. Please note that late entries will NOT be allowed in any elevated tournament in 2023 for any reason, regardless of whether a draw is full. Please also note that for Open Level 5s specifically, players will not be permitted to register for multiple age divisions or locations on any given weekend.

  • These tournaments will continue to enforce our Zero Tolerance Policy. This pertains to any and all spectators and their behavior at elevated tournaments.

If you have any questions at all regarding the elevated schedule or its policies, please reach out to jrtourney@midwest.usta.com.

ITF'S WORLD TENNIS NUMBER: TOURNAMENT PLAYER SELECTION & SEEDING

The Midwest has officially made the transition to the ITF's World Tennis Number (WTN)! As mentioned in last month's newsletter, WTN will now be the rating system utilized for our elevated junior tournament hybrid player selection and seeding processes. Information on our hybrid processes and the new ratios we'll be using.

Learn more about the WTN and how it works, and if you have any questions about how it relates to elevated junior tournaments, please feel free to contact the Midwest office at jrtourney@midwest.usta.com.

FROM OUR FOUNDATION

GIVING TUESDAY

Giving Tuesday is November 29 and is a global movement where people from around the world come together to make a difference through the power of giving. Our foundation, the USTA/Midwest Tennis and Education Foundation (MTEF), is passionate about this initiative. Last year, MTEF raised more than $15,000. Now they’re asking for your help to reach a new goal of $20,000! Every dollar makes a difference and goes towards providing greater educational opportunities for Midwest youth and players with disabilities.

$20 puts a tennis racquet into a child’s hand
$40 provides a session of online tutoring and books
$50 gives an NJTL chapter a case of 72 tennis balls
$100 covers a 6-8 youth tennis and education scholarship
$250 offsets player stipends for adaptive/wheelchair tennis events
$500 sends two children to a week-long wheelchair camp
$2,500 buys a child’s sportschair outright

If you’d like to make a contribution, you can donate on MTEF's website at midwesttennisfoundation.com.
