Bruning Named Tennis Channel Topspin Top 50 Coaches

Tennis Channel’s “TOPSPIN” is celebrating the best tennis coaches in America – those with uniquely inspiring personalities and a special passion for teaching and growing tennis. USTA Missouri Valley has a pair of coaches who have made the Top 50 - Tony Mullican from First Serve OKC and Bunny Bruning from Wakonda Club in Des Moines, Iowa. Read more about Mullican here. 

 



Bruning is the Tennis Director at the Wakonda Club, where she has worked since 1983. Bruning is  also a USPTA Master Professional, Head USPTA Tester in her division, plus President of the Central Iowa Tennis Alliance (CITA), which she founded in 1996. You can read more about the CITA here. Before joining the Wakonda Club, Bruning spent nine years on the WTA tour. She reached a career-high in singles of No. 41 and No. 11 in doubles.

She has also served as President of the Iowa Tennis Association and is a member of the USPTA Missouri Valley. Bruning has earned the following accolades: USPTA Missouri Valley Hall of Fame, Iowa Pro of the Year, and four-time Missouri Valley Pro of the Year Award winner.
