Happy Holidays from USTA Iowa
Holiday greetings to all!
I want to take this moment to wish everyone in USTA Iowa the happiest of holidays and a wonderful new year. I’m excited to inform you that we had a good and growing year, even with the COVID struggle many of us faced.
We also have four new committee chairs I want to introduce to you. Ann Simons-Burnett from North Liberty is taking over the Adult Competition Committee. Ann has been a club league and tournament player for many years and can be reached at Andrean-simons@uiowa.edu.
The Tennis on Campus Committee has Nick Petaros taking the new lead. He played on UNI’s tennis club team so he is well equipped to manage all the fun and events the year has in store. Nick can be reached at nick.petaros@gmail.com and still lives in Cedar Falls.
Mike Conlon is the tennis coach at West Des Moines Valley and is our new Awards Committee chair. His background with schools, competition and community tennis makes him the perfect selection to head a committee whose job is to recognize tennis excellence. The best way to reach Mike is at conlonm@wdmcs.org.
Finally, we have Lindsay Bates from Huxley taking over the Umpires Committee. Donna Farley had a close hand in choosing this new chair and said she is more than ready to help with your upcoming tournaments. Contact Lindsay at Lindsay.henjum@gmail.com.
Join me in welcoming the holidays, the new year and these new tennis volunteers as they guide their committees into 2022.
Mark Blume
Executive Director
