Three USTA Iowa Teams Compete at USTA League Nationals
Two Iowa teams recently competed at Nationals in Oklahoma City last month. The 40 & Over 4.5 women’s team captained by Jennie Henry went 2-2 over the course of the tournament, landing in sixth place, out of 16 teams in that category. Henry said it was a great, well-run tournament and had nothing but good experiences.
“It was so much fun, our team competed hard and did well,” Henry said. “Our opponents were all fantastic. There were no umpires interfering with play, no one had any issues with line calls or any bad sportsmanship-like conduct.”
“I am just bummed we couldn’t all play together again this year with having to split up,” she added. “I would take these players as part of my team anytime, anywhere. Lindsay Chase and I were truly blessed with such a wonderful group of ladies.I can’t say enough good things about each and every one of them.”
Meanwhile the 40 & Over 4.0 men’s team captained by Richard Heil and Brent Hanson went 1-3 over the course of the tournament, ending up in 14th place out of 17 teams.
Team Fleming will compete in the 40 & Over Mixed Nationals held in Orlando Nov. 11-13.
Congrats to everyone who made it to Nationals!
