USTA Missouri Seeking Junior Competition Coordinator

Title: Junior Competition Coordinator
Reports to: District Executive Director
Status: Independent Contractor
Location: Home office – within District
Work Schedule: Hours vary, with some weekends and nights
Position Summary: To assist USTA Missouri District in its mission to promote and develop the growth of tennis by coordinating, implementing, and delivering competitive youth play in the local community.
The Junior Competition Coordinator will work with District staff, District Junior Competition Committee, and volunteers to help implement and deliver a competitive youth tennis pathway with a focus on NET Levels and Junior Tournaments (Opens, Futures Qualifiers, and District Championships) as well as assist with the promotion of the Youth Progression Pathway as well as Junior Team Tennis.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop, promote and implement a District-wide competitive pathway including NET Levels and Junior Tournaments (Opens, Futures Qualifiers, and District Championships)
- Manage District Junior pathway for District Championships, Futures Qualifiers, Opens, and NET Events, including the scheduling of NET events
- Submit endorsement lists to the Missouri Valley Section Competition Program Manager following each Futures Qualifier and contact player’s parents to confirm participation
- Send pre-tournament emails to Tournament Directors
- Send post-tournament emails to players/parents
- Oversee tournament director, coach, and parent education
- Oversee the texting communications to Juniors via Rained Out Texting Service
- Manage all aspects of junior district tournaments including assisting with creating the district schedule as needed, serving on the district Junior Comp Committee, updating and approving tournament sanction forms, maintaining communication with parents, coaches, and tournament directors, and managing endorsement into section tournaments
- Continual promotion of other USTA programs including, but not limited to tournaments, Junior Team Tennis, Tennis on Campus, and Leagues
- Attend events as assigned including the Section and District Annual Meetings
- Participate in continuing education such as attendance at any workshops or webinars
- Communicate with Tennis Service Representative (TSR), Section Youth Pathway Manager and Section Junior Competition Manager
- Submit monthly reports of tasks/accomplishments to District staff
- Regularly report to District Junior Competition Committee as needed
- Attend and host meetings as assigned by District Executive Director
Organizational Relationships:
Tennis teaching professionals, tennis facilities/clubs, USTA Missouri Valley members, Parks and Recreation personnel, schools, retailers, manufacturing reps, service organizations, Community Tennis Association leaders, volunteers, District staff
Travel: Travel within District to meetings and events
Qualifications:
- Experience in the sport of tennis
- Completed Coach Youth Tennis online courses, a plus
- Complete 10 & Under Workshop, a plus
- USPTA/PTR certification, a plus
- Previous experience with 10 and Under tennis play format, a plus
- Previous experience with Jr. Team Tennis, a plus
- Strong sales skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work nights and weekends
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products
- Understanding of USTA Rules and Regulations
- Knowledge of tournament administration, Tournament Data Manager (TDM) and TennisLink, preferred

Pay
- A monthly stipend of $250
- Reimbursement for gas receipts
