Meet New USTA Nebraska Net Generation Youth Pathway Coordinator
USTA Nebraska recently hired Mike Saniuk as its new USTA Nebraska Net Generation Youth Pathway Coordinator. The position will help grow the game of tennis in Nebraska and since he is already the Director of Tennis at Miracle Hill Tennis Center in Omaha, he is well qualified for the role.
“I will continue offering play opportunities at all levels of the game from red ball to yellow ball; along with helping others facilitate their own USTA programs,” he explained. “I will provide guidance to parents and other teaching professionals who have questions on how the USTA Net Generation Junior Pathway works.”
Originally from Omaha, Saniuk attended Gross Catholic High School and played collegiately at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. He also coached at the University of Nebraska-Omaha prior to working at Miracle Hill. He has a passion for the sport, and has experience at every level of tennis.
“I am a NET Generation Certified Coach, USPTA Elite Professional, former college coach at the Division I and Division II level,” he said. “I am a father and teach tennis to players as young as 3 and to those over 80. The common theme is to allow players the opportunity to play! I feel we have done a great job at Miracle Hill. We offered the most NET /Junior Circuit/Team Challenges events in Nebraska last year.”
Saniuk said he hopes to get more tennis teaching professionals on board with the USTA Net Generation Junior Pathway, which allows kids to play the game and improve in a more consistent format.
“My biggest goal in Nebraska is to open up play opportunities for individuals and for team-based events. I hope we can start to implement more team competitions across the state. Tennis needs the team atmosphere to continue to grow. After all, we don’t want to lose players to pickleball,” he joked.
Saniuk has numerous individual accolades including:
- USPTA Elite Professional (Professional 1)
- USTA NetGeneration Certified Coach
- USTA Missouri Valley Top Contributor to Youth Tennis Programs 2020
- Nebraska Tennis Association Top Contributor to Junior Tennis 2018
- Nebraska Tennis Association Top Contributor to High Performance Tennis 2017
