USTA Nebraska has added two new coordinators to assist with junior play opportunities across its district.
Mike Saniuk will be coordinating the team challenges, as well as red, orange and green Junior Team Tennis Programs. Nate Evans will be coordinating yellow ball Junior Team Tennis.
Mike Saniuk will be coordinating all team challenges as well as red, orange, and green junior team tennis programs. Team challenges are a new USTA product that are an introduction to competition. Team Challenges offer a low level competitive play experience that highlights teamwork and skill development in a fun social environment.
Junior Team Tennis is a competitive, level-based environment that promotes individual growth, social growth and life skills.
Saniuk will also be running youth progression junior team tennis, participants will be able to obtain trophy credits for their participation. Finally, we also look to add other red, orange, and green ball junior team tennis opportunities throughout the district.ADVERTISEMENT
Saniuk is excited for the opportunity and said, “Growing the game of tennis, is really important. I am a true believer in the learn, practice, play philosophy and programs like these are perfect in my eyes. Giving the kids the opportunity to get better, is what it is all about!”
Evans is currently a USPTA certified pro who teaches at Omaha Country Club. He is also a high school coach at Duchesne High School. Evans played varsity tennis at Mount Michael Benedictine
Evans said he is “Very excited to get a solid Junior tennis program going in Nebraska. Some of my fondest memories are of playing in these kinds of tournaments as a junior; I want these kids to have the same great experiences I’ve had!”
