USTA Nebraska Teams at League Nationals
A number of USTA Nebraska teams made it all the way to USTA League Nationals this year. The men’s 18 & Over 5.0 team captained by Matthew Barlow made it all the way to finals, and came in second place after a tiebreaker in the #1 doubles match. The men’s 18 & Over 4.0 team captained by Leahy came in 14th place. The 18 & Over Mixed 10.0 team captained by Blatt/Vietzer came in 11th place.
Meanwhile, the women’s 40 & Over 3.0 team captained by Susan Ernst came in 7th place, with a 3-1 record.
“Having the chance to compete at Nationals and represent Missouri Valley was such an honor!” said team member Stacy Pickering. “The vibe at Nationals was more of a ‘we made it, let's enjoy it!’ versus the more stressful feeling at Sectionals. All four teams we played against were friendly and the level of play was competitive and fun.”
A few other mixed teams have yet to compete: 18 & Over 7.0 captained by Studts/Erwin and 40 & Over 8.0 captained by Erwin/Redding.
