USTA Nebraska Teams at Nationals

With a lot of hard work and perseverance, a number of USTA Nebraska teams made it to Nationals this season. The 40 and over 4.5 team captained by Ron Betts made it all the way to the finals in Scottsdale, Arizona. They lost a close match to Texas, but Betts is proud of his team and the second-place finish.

“Our guys really stepped it up and were ready for the challenge - no fear, no quit,” he said. “Second place was amazing and makes us better and stronger for the next battle.”

The 40 and over 4.5 women’s team captained by Jen Allison and Donna Wyse also played in Arizona and finished tenth in the nation. When they completed their matches, they were able to cheer on the men’s team.

“It was great weather and I had fun with the ladies,” said Atsuko Christensen, one of the players. “Our team did well and lost the matches by just a few games. Nebraska/Missouri Valley did well!”

Other teams included the 40 and over 4.0 women, captained by Marcia Holbrook, played in Oklahoma and finished tenth in the nation. 18 and over 10.0 mixed captained by Christine Veitzer came in ninth place in Arizona.

Most recently, Betts and Allison's Mixed 18 & Over 9.0 team finished in fifth place in Arizona.
