USTA launches Adaptive Tennis social media challenge

USTA Adaptive Tennis Committee | September 17, 2020

During the long months of physical separation, the USTA Adaptive Tennis community has been busy creating fun and innovative ways to stay connected. In March, the USTA Adaptive Tennis Challenge was created and many programs utilized social media to encourage light-hearted competition and companionship across the country. It also gave families, coaches, players and followers a chance to see each other, get to know other adaptive groups better and see the many ways in which tennis is adapted.

Bringing more exposure to adaptive programs also resulted in an uptick in new participants for virtual and in-person tennis programming.

The challenge is simple, similar to many other challenges taking place on social media, and ongoing. In order to participate, programs must be able to do the following:

  1. Have one of the following social media platforms: Facebook, Instagram or Twitter.
  2. Create an activity that can be done off-court.
  3. Create a video length approximately 45-60 seconds.
  4. Post the video on social media, preferably in-feed. (Though story is fine.)
  5. Challenge another Adaptive Tennis program using their social media handles.
  6. Tag @USTA and use #AdaptiveUSTA.
