Jack Waite Named PTR Connecticut Member of the Year
Hilton Head Island, SC - - Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) will present its annual awards during the PTR International Tennis Symposium. The event, which includes more than 40 educational presentations for tennis coaches, is underway on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.
Jack Waite, of Riverside, Connecticut, has been named PTR Member of the Year for the State. This award is presented to a member who has shown dedication and diligence in promoting and supporting tennis and PTR. As the former Director of Development for PTR,Waite oversaw the certification program for the US and Canada. Currently, he is the Director of Racquet Sports at Burning Tree Country Club in Greenwich, where he oversees the tennis, platform tennis and pickleball programs.

A native of Wisconsin, Waite attended the University of Wisconsin where he earned a degree in Industrial Engineering and Big Ten Player of the Year honors in 1991. He played on the ATP Tour from 1992-2002, reaching a career high ATP world doubles ranking of #44 and singles of #410.
Waite accumulated doubles wins over Roger Federer, Boris Becker, Patrick Rafter, Michael Chang, Goran Ivanisevic, Thomas Muster and the Bryan Brothers, as well as a singles win over Tim Henman. He won ATP Tour Event Doubles Titles in Palermo, Italy (‘94); Auckland, New Zealand (‘96); and Marbella, Spain (‘96).
His volunteer service includes roles as a representative on the ATP Player Council, the USOC Athletes Advisory Committee, the USTA Nominating Committee, Chairman of the USTA Pro Circuit Committee and member, Chairman of the PTR Education Committee, and currently serves on the PTR Board of Directors as Treasurer.
PTR is the largest global organization of tennis teaching professionals with more than 16,500 members in 125 countries. It has the greatest percentage of multicultural and women members of any such organization. PTR is dedicated to educating, certifying and serving tennis teachers and coaches around the world in order to grow the game.
