USTA LEAGUE MIXED 18 AND OVER SECTION CHAMPIONSHIPS

ALAMEDA, Calif. — October 18, 2017 — Five teams captured titles at the 2018 USTA Northern California Mixed 18 & Over League Section Championships on October 12-14 2018, in the Sacramento area. The championships brought together the top 73 teams with over 850 players of various ability levels throughout Northern California. The league winners will represent USTA Northern California at the 2018 USTA National League Championships to be held November 9-11, 2018, in Mobile, Ala. In the Mixed 18 & Over 6.0 Division, the Sunnyvale team representing the Sunnyvale Tennis Club, came back strong with three sweeps after losing the first match to take the title home. ADVERTISEMENT The 17-person team is captained by Stephan Rogalla and co-captained by Debbie Argabright.
In the Mixed 18 & Over 7.0 Division, the Palo Alto team representing the Cubberley Center, went undefeated all season and during the Sectional Championships to claim the title. The 25-person team is captained by Kevin Ong.
In the Mixed 18 & Over 8.0 Division, the Napa team representing the Napa Valley Community College, swept the competition to qualify for the USTA League National Championships. The 21-person team is captained by Tom Kincaid and co-captained by Will Mathis.
In the Mixed 18 & Over 9.0 Division, the Moraga team representing Saint Mary’s College of California Club Tennis, only lost one individual match to finish in first place. The 27-person team is captained by Will Mathis and co-captained by Greg Roberts.
In the Mixed 18 & Over 10.0 Division, the San Francisco team representing the California Tennis Club, was undefeated in sectional play to take the title home. The 19-person team is captained by Francesca LaO and co-captained by Ron Tong.
USTA League was established 37 years ago to provide adult recreational tennis players throughout the country with the opportunity to compete against players of similar ability levels. Players participate on teams in a league format, which is administered by the USTA through its 17 sections. USTA League groups players by using six NTRP levels, ranging from 2.5 (entry) to 5.0 (advanced). USTA League is open to any USTA member 18 years of age or older.
