ALAMEDA, Calif. — Over 780 tennis players are expected to take part in the 2017 USTA Adult 18 & Over Sectional Championships, which are being held August 25-27, in the Monterey area. ADVERTISEMENT The host sites are Carmel Valley Athletic Club and Carmel Valley Ranch Resort in Carmel, Chamisal Tennis and Fitness Club in Salinas, and The Beach & Tennis Club of Pebble Beach in Pebble Beach.

This year’s event has drawn the top 56 teams from throughout Northern California. The teams, which represent various clubs, parks, recreational departments and organizations, are at the top of the section and are now competing for a chance to represent the USTA Northern California Section at the USTA League National Championships, happening October 2017, in Surprise, Ariz., Orlando, Fla., Mobile, Ala., and Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.

The playing season took place from March 27, to June 18, with local league playoffs spanning across the last weekend of June and the first weekend of July, and the District Championships taking place August 4-6.

USTA League was established 37 years ago to provide adult recreational tennis players throughout the country with the opportunity to compete against players of similar ability levels. Players participate on teams in a league format, which is administered by the USTA through its 17 sections. USTA League groups players by using six NTRP levels, ranging from 2.5 (entry) to 5.0 (advanced). USTA League is open to any USTA member 18 years of age or older.

USTA League, the United States’ largest recreational tennis league, helps hundreds of thousands of participants get on the court, have a good time and step up their game. Take part in the fun for an unmatched team experience!
