Mixed 55 & Over League Holds Sectional Championships in Folsom and Oakley

ALAMEDA, Calif. — Over 400 tennis players are expected to take part in the 2017 USTA Northern California Mixed 55 & Over Sectional Championships, which are being held February 10-12 in the Folsom and Oakley area. The host sites are Broadstone Racquet Club in Folsom and Diamond Hills Sports Club and Spa in Oakley.

This year’s event has drawn the top 34 teams from throughout Northern California. ADVERTISEMENT The teams, which represent various clubs, parks, recreational departments and organizations, have finished at the top of their local leagues.

The Mixed 55 & Over League is specific to the Northern California section, and was created to better align participants with players their own age and culminates in the Sectional Championship. The playing season took place from September 12 to November 20, with local league playoffs spanning across the first two weekends in December.

USTA League was established 37 years ago to provide adult recreational tennis players throughout the country with the opportunity to compete against players of similar ability levels. Players participate on teams in a league format, which is administered by the USTA through its 17 sections. USTA League groups players by using six NTRP levels, ranging from 2.5 (entry) to 5.0 (advanced). USTA League is open to any USTA member 18 years of age or older.

USTA League, the United States’ largest recreational tennis league, helps hundreds of thousands of participants get on the court, have a good time and step up their game. Take part in the fun for an unmatched team experience!
