ALAMEDA, Calif. — July 10, 2018 — Four teams captured titles at the 2018 USTA Northern California Mixed 40 & Over League Section Championships June 22–24, 2018, in the Sacramento Area. Originally scheduled for March 2–4, 2018, the Sectional Championships were rescheduled due to inclement weather. The championships brought together the top 58 teams with over 850 players of various ability levels throughout Northern California. To see all the pictures, click here.

 

In the Mixed 40 & Over 6.0 Division, the team from Concord representing Willow Pass Park, went undefeated throughout the playoffs to secure its title. The 20-person team is captained by Jonathan Indick and co-captained by Ariel Santos.

In the Mixed 40 & Over 7.0 Division, the Danville team representing the Danville Tennis Club, went 6-0 in three days to take the title home.  The 18-person team is captained by Harish Natarajan and co-captained by Krisztina Kohlhaas, and plays at the Monte Vista High School.

 

In the Mixed 40 & Over 8.0 Division, the Foster City team representing the Foster City Tennis Club, went undefeated throughout the season and playoffs to finish in first place.  The 20-person team is captained by Marsha Heimbecker and co-captained by Brian Heimbecker, and plays at the Edgewater Park in Foster City.

 

In the Mixed 40 & Over 9.0 Division, the Santa Clara team representing the Bay Club Santa Clara, only lost one match all year to claim the title.  The 17-person team is captained by Kimi Sato.

 

USTA League was established 37 years ago to provide adult recreational tennis players throughout the country with the opportunity to compete against players of similar ability levels. Players participate on teams in a league format, which is administered by the USTA through its 17 sections. USTA League groups players by using six NTRP levels, ranging from 2.5 (entry) to 5.0 (advanced). USTA League is open to any USTA member 18 years of age or older.
