The USTA Tennis Development Workshop (TDW) provides the perfect opportunity for community tennis leaders to enhance their skills and knowledge related to tennis programming. Participants will have the opportunity to learn from the best, both in the programming sessions and by networking with over 500 leaders from across the country.

 

Each year, the USTA Northern California Diversity & Inclusion Committee awards partial scholarships to diverse community tennis leaders to offset some of the costs of attending the USTA Tennis Development Workshop. Scholarship amount is $1000.  Two scholarships will be awarded.  All applicants must be USTA members in good standing or be affiliated with a program with USTA membership and reside within USTA NorCal region. Ideal candidates are multicultural tennis program providers or serve a predominately multicultural group; female tennis providers; providers from the LGBT community and who demonstrate leadership in growing and supporting USTA Junior tennis programs within their local community. 

 

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Scholarships are NON-TRANSFERABLE. More than one applicant from an organization is encouraged to apply. An organization will not be penalized for submitting more than one application.
  2. All applicants must be USTA members in good standing or be affiliated with a program with USTA membership. To renew your membership, visit www.membership.usta.com or call 1-800-990-USTA (8782) between 8:00 A.M. and 8:00 P.M (Central).
  3. Applicants must be integrally involved in the organization and development of a community tennis program.
  4. Applicants must be available for the entire workshop and should not apply unless certain he or she is able to attend for the duration.  Accepted applicants who fail to attend the conference will be given little consideration in the 2018 scholarship applicant pool.
  5. Applicants who have not previously attended the TDW will be given priority.
  6. Have not received a grant/stipend from USTA National or another USTA NorCal Department to attend TDW 2017. If you have already been awarded monies from other USTA departments, you are ineligible.
  7. Scholarship winners to be notification by August 2017.

 

Deadline for USTA Northern California Partial Scholarship

Application deadline is Monday, July 24, 2017 at 5 p.m. Pacific Time.  You may submit application by email to Silvia Dueñas-Bielser, or by fax to (510) 748-7377, Attention to: Silvia Dueñas-Bielser. 

You can also mail the completed application to USTA Northern California, Attn: 2017 TDW Scholarship, 1920 North Loop Rd, Alameda CA 94502.
