Sacramento Area to host Adult 40 & Over League Sectional Championships

ALAMEDA, Calif. — Over 750 tennis players are expected to take part in the 2018 USTA Adult 40 & Over Sectional Championships, which are being held May 18-20, in the Sacramento area. The host sites are Gold River Racquet Club in Gold River and Laguna Creek Racquet Club in Elk Grove.

This year’s event has drawn the top 56 teams from throughout Northern California. The teams, which represent various clubs, parks, recreational departments and organizations, have finished at the top of their local leagues and are now competing for a chance to represent the USTA Northern California Section at the USTA League National Championships, happening October 2018, in Arlington, TX, Mobile, Ala. ADVERTISEMENT , and Las Vegas, NV.

The Adult 40 & Over League was created to better align participants with players their own age. The playing season took place from January 8 to April 1, with local league playoffs spanning across the month of April, and the District Championships taking place May 4-6.

USTA League was established 37 years ago to provide adult recreational tennis players throughout the country with the opportunity to compete against players of similar ability levels. Players participate on teams in a league format, which is administered by the USTA through its 17 sections. USTA League groups players by using six NTRP levels, ranging from 2.5 (entry) to 5.0 (advanced). USTA League is open to any USTA member 18 years of age or older.

USTA League, the United States’ largest recreational tennis league, helps hundreds of thousands of participants get on the court, have a good time and step up their game. Take part in the fun for an unmatched team experience!
