FOUR TEAMS CROWNED SECTION CHAMPIONS AT
USTA LEAGUE MIXED 55 AND OVER SECTION CHAMPIONSHIPS

ALAMEDA, Calif. — April 23, 2019 — Four teams captured titles at the 2019 USTA Northern California Mixed 55 & Over League Section Championships this past weekend in the Folsom and Oakley area. The championships brought together the top 40 teams with over 500 players of various ability levels throughout Northern California.
In the Mixed 55 & Over 6.0 Division, the Oakley team representing the Diamond Hills Racquet Club, won all their matches from local league play to the Section Championship to capture the title.
The 16-person team is captained by Alexander Macksoud and co-captained by Eddie Lugo.
In the Mixed 55 & Over 7.0 Division, the Vallejo team representing the Greater Vallejo Tennis Association, swept the competition to capture this year’s title.ADVERTISEMENT
The 16-person team is captained by Christopher Picone and co-captained by Imelda Lee and plays at the Amador Courts.
In the Mixed 55 & Over 8.0 Division, the Pleasanton team representing Clubsport of Pleasanton was able to outlast teams from San Jose, Mill Valley, Roseville and Aptos to take the title.
The 14-person team is captained by Patrick Chan.
In the Mixed 55 & Over 9.0 Division, the Danville team representing Monte Vista High School won all four matches to be crowned section champion.
The 8-person team is captained by Jon Toney and co-captained by Michael Bedard.

USTA League was established 37 years ago to provide adult recreational tennis players throughout the country with the opportunity to compete against players of similar ability levels. Players participate on teams in a league format, which is administered by the USTA through its 17 sections. USTA League groups players by using six NTRP levels, ranging from 2.5 (entry) to 5.0 (advanced). USTA League is open to any USTA member 18 years of age or older.
