2019 PNW T-Shirt Contest

The voting is in, and our 2019 Section Championship T-shirt Contest winner is Glen Iwasaki from Bellevue, WA! You will see this design printed on thousands of shirts this summer and fall. Learn about our winner, Glen, below.

Over the years Glen has held senior design positions for a variety of firms which have included, the NFL, LA Gear, Nordstrom, Microsoft, UW Medicine and for the past 14 years with the Seattle Seahawks. Design has taken him to many cities in the United States, a few countries in Europe and to Japan on many occasions. He considers himself remarkably lucky to have a long career in a field he enjoys.

While in his late 40’s he learned to play tennis at a club in Bellevue and played a for about 18 months. 12 years later he picked up tennis again and has been playing regularly for the past 4 years, usually at Robinswood Tennis Center in Bellevue. A year after he joined USTA he was fortunate to play at the Sectionals in Sun River and later in Beaverton.

Much has been said about the camaraderie among tennis players, both teammates and opponents. There’s a strong desire to win and perform well and at the same time play with fairness and respect. The pure physical enjoyment of the sport can be exhilarating. Glen recalls a time playing with friends he met through a tennis class. It was summer and they were outdoors on the court, taking a break and sharing a laugh over a crazy point. The afternoon was clear and sunny and he was thinking that this was the most fun he’d had in a while. Tennis has provided moments like this.
