Jaime Kaplan hired as director, foundation development

Former WTA player Jaime Kaplan has been hired as Southern Tennis Foundation (STF) Director, Foundation Development & Operations, USTA Southern Executive Director & COO/STF Executive Director Matt Olson announced today.

 

Kaplan, of Macon, Ga., reached No. 91 in the world in women’s doubles and won five doubles titles on the WTA Tour. She was inducted into the STF’s Southern Tennis Hall of Fame in 2019, along with the Georgia Tennis Hall of Fame in 2006, the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame in 2005 and the Macon Sports Hall of Fame in 2001. She was honored with the USTA Eve Kraft Award in 2008 for volunteering in tennis.

Whilestarring as an All-State high school basketball player at Stratford Academy, she was even more successful on the tennis court with a 156-0 record and five state championships. She began work at Stratford in 2005 as head varsity tennis coach and added Major Gifts Coordinator/Alumni Director to her role in 2009. Jaime's teams own 13 state championships. She has worked and volunteered in the non-profit world for over 35 years, helping raise over $28,000,000 in that time.

 

“Jaime comes to the Southern Tennis Foundation with an outstanding record in fundraising and organization. Her connections in and knowledge of the Southern tennis community will make her a cornerstone in expanding the foundation’s philanthropic mission,” said STF Chairman Derek White.

 

Olson added, “We are extremely happy to welcome Jaime to the Southern Tennis Foundation. Her work ethic helped her to rise to a top world ranking and also made her a success in her three decades of service to tennis by raising millions of dollars in and around her hometown of Macon, Ga.,”

 

The STF is an independent volunteer-led 501(c)3 organization that provides needs-based scholarships, grants to assist competitive junior players, grants for youth-oriented programs, and emergency assistance to programs, pros and players. Donations are tax-exempt, and every dollar donated to the STF goes back to programs and players in the Southern states.
