2021 55 & Over Sectional Results

Seven teams came away victorious at this year's Adult 55 & Over Sectional Championships in Dallas from May 23-24. Dallas dominated its home turf, winning four of the seven divisions.

 

Women's 6.0 Champions – Dallas

 

Dallas went undefeated in the Women's 6.0 division, beating Fort Worth, NETX and San Antonio for the title. The team will head to the Adult 55 & Over 6.0 National Championships from October 29-31 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida.

 

"Oak Creek/Urias-Kolb W6.0S" is captained by Sherri Urias, co-captained by Marcie Kolb and plays out of Oak Creek Tennis Center in Carrollton. The team features team members Marcie Kolb, Traci Radford, Kathy Sinclair, Debra Strait-Almaguer, Elizabeth Cornell, Misty Grimm, Sherri Urias, Mety Valentine, Nancy Murphy, Juli Taylor and Kandis Thompson.

Men's 7.0 Champions – Wild Dallas

 

Wild Dallas earned the Men's 7.0 crown after topping their four-team flight and defeating Houston in the finals 2-0. The team earned a spot at the Adult 55 & Over 7.0 National Championships from October 15-17 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida.

 

"McKinney/Mitchell M7.0" is captained by Brad Mitchell and plays out of The Courts at Gabe Nesbitt Park in McKinney. The 15 players on the roster include Brad Mitchell, Brad Cramer, Ralph Henry, Brad Jost, David Irons, Bob Williams, William Martin, John Hansmann, Fred Hammond, Dick Kaufmann, Steven Malin, Joe Giovino, Bob Possehl, Johnny Pickett and Kyle Kaigler.

Women’s 7.0 Champions – NOHO

 

NOHO went undefeated in flight play before defeating San Antonio in the semifinals 2-1 and Abilene in the finals 2-1 to win a trip to the National Championships. The team will go to the Adult 55 & Over 7.0 National Championships in Orlando, Florida from October 15-17 at the USTA National Campus.

 

“Spearman-Lakeside Park” is captained by Dyana Spearman, co-captained by Dawn Brubaker and plays out of Lakeside Park in The Woodlands. The roster features Dyana Spearman, Dawn Brubaker, Kay Holub, Maria Isava, Nancy Oesterling, Eunice Skehan, Cynthia Nicklus, lori VanJoslin, Myra Castagnola, Kristi Maires and Tammie Gross.

Men's 8.0 Champions – Fort Worth

Fort Worth went 3-0 in flight play before defeating NOHO in the semifinals 2-1 and Houston in the finals 2-0 to earn a spot at the National Championship. The team will head to the Adult 55 & Over 8.0 National Championships from October 22-24 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida.

 

"HTC Come On" is captained by Raymond Hokanson, co-captained by James McBurney and plays out of the City of Hurt Tennis Center in Hurst. The team roster features 15 players: Raymond Hokanson, Mark Bradford, Andras Bocsardi, Andrew Steinbeck, Mike Fincher, Kent Harris, Bill Stetzer, Grady Chandler, Frank Carpenter, Yoshitaka Yukawa, Jim Sanger, Kevin McNamee, Thomas Burke, Chris Calandro and Jeffrey Yarbrough.

Women’s 8.0 Champions – Dallas

 

Dallas turned in quite the performance in the 8.0 division, winning the flight 3-0 before defeating Austin 2-0 in the finals. The team will head to the Adult 55 & Over 8.0 National Championships from October 22-24 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida.

 

"Greenhill/Chandler W8.0S" is captained by Trish Chandler and plays out of Greenhill Tennis Center in Addison. The team roster features Trish Chandler, Cami Gorsky, Stefanie Wacker, Julie Bradley, Kitty Smith, Melania Russell, Elizabeth Shaw, Jana Labra, Mary Ann Walters, Suzanne Ortolano, Christina Perron, Jackie Reily, Nidia Bridges and Sue Walker.

Men's 9.0 Champions – San Antonio

 

San Antonio was the only team to finish undefeated in flight play, topping the six team division with a 4-0 record. The team will head to the Adult 55 & Over 9.0 National Championships from October 29-31 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida.

 

“Spring Branch JNCC YUTES” is captained by Bobby Duran and plays out of Spring Branch Tennis Association in Spring Branch. The team features players Chris Stansbury, Jose Uribe, Ross Bickham, Bobby Duran, Cecil Eager, Guillermo Martin Del Campo, William Paipa, Jorge Triana, Scott Meyers, Todd Smith, Michael Caskey, Kevin Mullins, Richard Perry and Cary Schindler.

Women's 9.0 Champions – Dallas

 

Dallas took it to the rest of the Women's 9.0 division, going 4-0 in flight play and dropping just one set out of 25 all weekend. The team will head to the Adult 55 & Over 9.0 National Championships from October 29-31 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida.

 

“Greenhill/Johnson W9.0S” is captained by Cynthia Johnson and plays out of Greenhill Tennis Center in Addison. The team features players Kate Poplin Ikeda, Vicki Buholz, Elizabeth Jeffett, Julie Bradley, Nidia Bridges, Cynthia Johnson, Susan Stone, Marci Addington, Sandi Shipley, Amy Mills and Gayle Prejean.
