Mid-South Illinois Awards



Each year the District honors dedicated individuals and organizations for their service and support of the District’s mission to grow, develop and service the sport of tennis.  Any individual may nominate a Mid-South member or organization for an award; online submission forms are below. All nominees must be USTA members in good standing with the USTA. The deadline to submit nominations for 2025 has passed. 

 

The Awards Committee reserves the right to forgo presentation of awards in categories with inadequate nominations. The decision of the Awards Committee is final.


Family of the Year Award

This award is presented to the family in the Mid-South Illinois Tennis Association that has contributed the most toward tennis through the years. Family members are all involved in tennis, serving their local area or district in promoting and perpetuating the development of tennis on all levels.

 

 

Volunteer of the Year Award

This award recognizes an individual that exhibits distinguished, unselfish, and dedicated service to the Mid-South Illinois Tennis Association.  The award especially honors the individual who has contributed to the development of tennis from the grass roots up for five years or more.

 

 

Teaching Professional Award

This award recognizes the certified teaching professional who contributes to tennis in his or her community beyond his livelihood.  This person gives freely in promoting involvement in tennis for players of all levels and ages, and assists in developing tennis programs and promoting participation.

 

 

High School Coach of the Year Award

This award is to recognize the coach who has contributed the most to his community, promoting and developing tennis for all ages and levels.

 

 

USTA League Captain Award

Recognizes the USTA League Captain that has provided leadership and has made a significant contribution to the growth and enhancement of USTA League play within their District and the USTA Midwest Section.

 

 

CTA of the Year Award

Recognizes outstanding service rendered in the community served, and in the growth and development of the sport of tennis.

 

 

Media Award

Recognizes the journalist, sportscaster, newspaper, radio or television station which has contributed the most toward promoting tennis on the local, district or sectional level.

 

 

Junior Female Award

This award recognizes a Junior female who displays exemplary sportsmanship, playing ability and an excellent mental attitude. This can be something displayed on the court or in other areas as it relates to tennis. The nominee for this award must be 18 or under on January 1st of the year the award is being presented and must reside within the USTA Mid-South Illinois boundaries.

 

 

Junior Male Award

This award recognizes a Junior Male who displays exemplary sportsmanship, playing ability and an excellent mental attitude. This can be something displayed on the court or in other areas as it relates to tennis. The nominee for this award must be 18 or under on January 1st of the year the award is being presented and must reside within the USTA Mid-South Illinois boundaries.
