Brian Vahaly serves as Chairman and President of the USTA Board of Directors. Vahaly has served five non-consecutive terms on the USTA Board, having served as the First Vice President, Treasurer, and the Chair of the Audit and Budget Committees. He was also a member of the Investment Committee and the board liaison for the Player Development and Youth Tennis councils. Vahaly played professionally for seven years, reaching a world ranking of No. 64. Vahaly was the only male college graduate in the ATP Top 100 at the time and was the first current or former ATP player to publicly come out as a member of the LGBTQ+ community. Vahaly attended the University of Virginia, where he became a three-time All-American and reached the NCAA singles final. He was twice named ACC Tennis Player of the Year, graduating as an Academic All-American with a double major in finance and business management. After retiring from professional tennis, Vahaly is now a recognized leader in the health and wellness sector, particularly in private equity-backed, early-stage companies. He has played a pivotal role in operational turnarounds, driving growth and improving profitability. His inclusive leadership style has been instrumental in the successful exits of companies such as NextGen Venture Partners, [solidcore], and YouFit Gyms. Vahaly now works as a Senior Advisor at the Investment Management firm Brown Advisory, and lives with his husband, Bill Jones, and their two sons in the Washington, D.C. area.

J. Christopher Lewis serves as the First Vice President on the USTA Board of Directors. Lewis currently is serving his second consecutive term on the USTA Board of Directors and his first term as the Secretary Treasurer of the USTA. Previously, he served two terms as the President of the SCTA. At the University of Southern California, he earned both an undergraduate degree in Finance and Accounting and a master’s degree in Business Administration. As an undergraduate at USC he was a three-time tennis All-American, was a member of the 1976 team which won the NCAA Team Championship and won the NCAA doubles title in 1977. At USC he also received an NCAA Post Graduate Scholarship which recognizes student-athletes who excel in both athletics and academics. In 1982 Lewis joined RLH Equity Partners, a private investment firm which partners with high growth middle-market service firms. He now serves as the firm’s chairman.
Maggie Chan Jones serves as Vice President on the USTA Board of Directors. This will be Jones’ second consecutive term on the USTA Board of Directors. Jones is a recognized executive in business transformation, marketing, inclusion, and sustainability. She has served on the boards of global technology leaders and UK FTSE 100 public companies, including BT Group and Sage Group. She also serves on the Ontinue board, an EQT Partners company, as an advisory board member and sustainability champion. Long an influential business advocate of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI), Jones founded Tenshey, Inc., in 2018 and served as its CEO until 2024. Jones originated Tenshey’s mission to elevate more women and underrepresented talents into leadership roles. Tenshey is a recipient of Inc. Magazine’s 2021 Best in Business and Diversity Journal’s 2020 Innovations in Diversity awards. Prior to founding Tenshey, Jones was the first woman to become global chief marketing officer (CMO) at SAP, the world’s largest enterprise application software provider, where she led the global brand transformation of SAP to becoming the world’s 21st most valuable brand. Before that, Jones served as the inaugural North America CMO at Level 3 Communications. Her previous influential tenure at Microsoft included driving market adoption of the company’s industry-defining SaaS cloud software, Office 365. Frequently recognized as a thought-leader, Jones was a recipient of industry awards including Outstanding 50 Asian Americans in Business (2021), Women of the Decade in Marketing, Branding and Communication (2018); Forbes World's Most Influential CMOs (2017); Woman of the Year (2014). Jones earned her undergraduate degree in business management from Binghamton University, holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Cornell University, and received The Corporate Director Certificate from Harvard Business School.
Megan Moulton-Levy serves as Vice President on the USTA Board of Directors and as an Elite Athlete. This will be Moulton-Levy’s third consecutive term on the USTA Board of Directors. She has previously served one term on the National Junior Competition Committee. After graduating from the College of William & Mary, where she holds the record for the most combined wins in singles and doubles, Moulton-Levy competed on the WTA Tour from 2008-2016. She captured the WTA Monterrey doubles championship in 2014 in addition to winning 10 ITF doubles titles. She also attained a career-high world singles ranking of No. 237 and earned one ITF singles title. Prior to turning professional, Moulton-Levy earned a B.A. in Sociology from William & Mary in 2007 and completed a stellar collegiate career, rising to the No. 1 NCAA ranking in doubles and No. 7 in singles. The six-time All-American reached the semifinal round of the 2006 NCAA Singles Championship and the final round of the 2007 NCAA Doubles Championship. Moulton-Levy was also a two-time recipient of the National ITA/Arthur Ashe, Jr. Award for Leadership and Sportsmanship. Moulton-Levy has been the Vice President at Junior Tennis Champions Center in College Park, Md. since July of 2024. She joined JTCC in January 2016 as a senior coach, assumed the Director of Mentoring role in January 2018 before being promoted to her current role
William (Bill) McGugin serves as Secretary-Treasurer on the USTA Board of Directors. This will be McGugin’s second consecutive term on the USTA Board of Directors. McGugin is President and CEO of Iroquois Capital Group, Inc. (‘ICG’), a private equity firm based in Nashville, Tenn. He is also Chairman/President/CEO of REIT Investment Group, LLC, a portfolio company of ICG, which McGugin founded in 2006. McGugin has served on numerous company, school, and non-profit boards including Catholic Charities, Dismas House, and Montgomery Bell Academy Alumni Board. Prior to founding RIG/ICG, McGugin was previously with Covenant Capital Group, a real estate private equity firm based in Nashville, Tenn. McGugin currently serves as Chair of the USTA Investment Committee and Chair of USTA Ventures. Previously, McGugin has served in multiple USTA Tennessee, Southern, and National roles including USTA Southern Board Member (2019-2022), Board Member of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (2018-2021), President of USTA Tennessee (2016-2017),and Chair of the USTA Competitive Pathway Council (2021-2022). McGugin graduated from Vanderbilt University (BA in 2000 and M.Ed in 2003) while playing four years on the varsity tennis team. He remains an active adult competitor having won multiple USTA gold balls over the past 10 years. McGugin resides in Nashville, Tenn., and is married to Dr. Rankin Williams McGugin. The two enjoy serving as USTA JTT captains for their children William, Nancy, Frances, and Preston.
Catherine (CiCi) Bellis serves a first term as Director-at-Large as an Elite Athlete on the USTA Board of Directors. CiCi played professional tennis on the WTA Tour, reaching No. 35 in the world at age 17. She won one WTA Challenger, seven ITF titles and was the 2017 WTA Newcomer of the Year. As a USTA junior, Bellis won six USTA National Junior Singles Championships and was ranked No. 1 in the G18s in April 2014. That same year, she won the USTA Girls 18s hardcourts and was ITF Junior World Champion. Recently, she completed her MBA degree at the University of Miami, focusing on Management and Finance. Prior to her MBA, Bellis earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with an emphasis on Finance and Entrepreneurship from Indiana University. In July 2023, she founded Cartan Capital—a venture capital firm centered around sports and health. She also works as a broadcaster for Tennis Channel.
Laura F. Canfield serves as a Director-at-Large on the USTA Board of Directors. This will be Canfield’s fifth consecutive term on the USTA Board of Directors. Canfield has served as Board Liaison to the Section Presidents and Delegates and on numerous Task Forces, including Pickleball (chair), USTA National and USTA Sectional Association Bi-lateral Communication and Transparency (co-chair), Social Justice, Sectional/National Budget subcommittee, Shared Services, Governance, and several others. Canfield has been active in the tennis industry for more than 40 years in a wide range of areas, including serving 12 years as executive director of the USTA Middle States Sectional Association; special liaison to the USTA President; special projects coordinator for the USTA; interim executive director with the USTA Eastern, USTA Mid- Atlantic, and USTA Intermountain Sectional Associations. Her volunteer service includes two terms on the USTA Nominating Committee, which Canfield chaired from 2013 to 2014, and eight years on the Board of Directors of USTA Middle States Sectional Association. She was inducted into the USTA Middle States Hall of Fame in 2012. Canfield is co-founder and current program director of the Bucks County Tennis Association, which provides affordable quality tennis programs to over two dozen parks and recreation agencies and schools throughout Bucks County, Pa., servicing more than 2,000 participants annually. Canfield is a past president of the Princeton Tennis Program, was a long-term board member of the Eastern Sectional Association’s Junior Tennis Foundation, and served for more than six years on the Northampton Township (Pa.) Parks and Recreation Board (chair 2016–2017).
Chris Capossela serves his first term as a Director-at-Large on the USTA Board of Directors. Capossela is a marketing leader in the technology industry who has worked across both consumer and commercial marketing. He spent over 30 years of his career working at Microsoft as a marketing professional. Capossela spent the last ten years of his career at Microsoft as the Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer. In that role, he had charge of worldwide marketing across both the consumer and commercial businesses – including product marketing, business planning, brand, advertising, events, media buying, communications and market research for Microsoft products and services as well as digital direct sales and retail partner sales for all Microsoft products. Over his storied career at Microsoft, there have been many highlights. Some roles include: Program Manager, Microsoft Access, Speech Assistant to Bill Gates, Director Business Operations in EMEA (based in Paris). After his time in Paris, he returned to the U.S. and served as General Manager, Microsoft Project, before taking on the role of Corporate Vice President, Office Marketing and then becoming Chief Marketing Officer. Capossela graduated from Harvard University with a B.A. in economics. Originally, from Boston, his interest in technology began when, as a boy, he wrote a reservation system for his family’s small Italian restaurant using dBase for DOS on an early IBM PC. Capossela lives in Seattle with his wife and two daughters. He currently serves as a member to corporate and non-profit boards with a focus on innovation and community growth.
Violet Clark serves as a Director-at-Large on the USTA Board of Directors. This will be Clark’s fourth consecutive term on the USTA Board of Directors. Clark has volunteered with USTA National on several committees including the Collegiate Committee, Junior Competition Committee, 10 and Under Tennis Committee, Community Tennis Association Committee, and Strategic and Creative Planning Committee. She served with the USTA Midwest Sectional Association from 2007 until the present, including as Sectional Association President. In addition, during that time, she served on many committees of USTA Midwest. Since 2007, Clark has served on the Board of the USTA Midwest Tennis and Education Foundation, including as Vice President. Clark served on the Chicago District Tennis Association Board from 1997 until 2001, and was its first African-American President. Clark also served on the Chicago Tennis Patron’s Board, including as its President from 2002 until 2012. She was inducted into the CDTA Hall of Fame in 2018. Clark graduated with a B.A. from Brown University and a J.D. from Cornell Law School. She is currently Of Counsel at Laner Muchin, Ltd., representing management in employment law and labor relations matters before the EEOC, the Illinois Human Rights Commission, state and federal courts; wage and hour matters before the Illinois and United States.
Amanda Fink-Moore serves her first term as a Director-at-Large on the USTA Board of Directors. Fink-Moore is a long-standing member of the coaching community. From being a head professional in San Diego, Tucson and now a teaching professional in Texas, Fink-Moore has been bringing tennis to new players and bringing players back into the game since 2012. She most recently served on the Southwest USTA board of directors. She has volunteered on USPTA division boards, is a USTA National cardio tennis trainer and an Industry speaker. She has successfully brought programs like Sip N’ Serve and College Knowledge to her communities, winning multiple awards from the USTA and USPTA. Before coaching, Fink-Moore competed at University of Southern California (USC) achieving All-American status. She won PAC10 singles, doubles and team titles. After graduating with a degree in psychology, Fink-Moore competed on the pro tour for 3 years, achieving a Top 300 WTA ranking in both singles and doubles.
Kathleen Francis serves as a Director-at-Large on the USTA Board of Directors. This will be Francis’ third consecutive term on the USTA Board of Directors. Francis has more than 30 years of experience leading the development and implementation of high-impact marketing and youth development programs. Her professional career spans corporate, professional sports league, venue, and not-for-profit sectors. Francis has created and executed unique, multi- faceted sports marketing and inclusion strategies for organizations including Major League Baseball, the Meadowlands Sports Complex and the USTA, where she served as Managing Director, Community Tennis Marketing and Development. Currently, she is President of Oasis Sports Ventures, a consulting and grass-roots development agency. She also is Chair and President of Women in Sports and Events, an international organization focused on accelerating the advancement of women in the business of sports. She served two terms on the USTA Nominating Committee. Francis holds a BA from Xavier University of Louisiana and a MBA from Rutgers University, Graduate School of Management.
Jon Rydberg serves his first term as an Elite Athlete on the USTA Board of Directors. He has previously served on the National Wheelchair Tennis Committee (2009-10), the USTA Nominating Committee (20021-22), the USTA Athlete Advisory Council (2021-present), and as a Presidential Appointee to the USTA Board of Directors (2023- 2024). After finishing his collegiate basketball career and graduating from the University of Texas at Arlington, Rydberg refocused on tennis and reached a career-high world ranking of No. 11 in singles, and No. 13 in doubles on the ITF Wheelchair Tour. He is a US Open singles semifinalist, represented the U.S. at 4 Paralympic Games, 3 Para Pan AM Games (2 Golds, 2 Silvers), and 14 World Team Cups. After retiring from the tour in 2016, he became a USTA High Performance National Coach working with players from the grass roots to professionals. He is also the U.S. men’s captain for World Team Cup (2018-present), a youth and high school coach (2009-present), and a Courage Kenny Rehab Institute volunteer coach
Hon. Derek J. White serves his first term as a Director-at-Large on the USTA Board of Directors. White was the first African American to serve as the CEO and President of the USTA Southern section—the largest USTA section—which serves 23 percent of USTA members. He opened and managed The White Law Group from 2000-2021 and in 2001, was elected to the State Court of Chatham County, where he currently serves the citizens of Chatham County, Georgia. White began his tennis volunteering career in Macon, Georgia, where he served as President of the Macon Tennis Association while attending law school in 1995. Thereafter, he has served the USTA at the District level, Sectional level, and National level for over 25 years. White’s USTA service includes: Committee Member, Grievance Committee - USTA Georgia; Chairperson, Grievance Committee - USTA, Southern; Secretary - USTA Southern; Vice President - USTA Southern; President & CEO - USTA Southern; Chairman, Nomination Committee - USTA Southern; Delegate - USTA Southern; Committee Member, Constitution and Rules Committee and Tennis Rules Committee - USTA National; Chair, Grievance Committee - USTA; Chair, Section Delegates’ Committee - USTA; Chair, Presidents’ Committee - USTA; and Committee Member, Nominating Committee - USTA. White received his Juris Doctorate from Mercer University Walter F. George School of Law in 1996. White has served on several local non-profit boards and served as a Special Master for the Supreme Court of Georgia; Chief Judge for the Municipal Court of the City of Pooler, Georgia; Judge for the Municipal Court of Pt. Wentworth, Georgia; and a ProTem Judge for the Recorder’s Court of Savannah, Georgia.
Perren Wong serves his first term as Director-at-Large on the USTA Board of Directors. Wong is an active grass-roots volunteer currently serving as USTA Delegates Committee Chair and a member of the USTA Budget Committee and USTA Ventures. He previously served on the USTA Presidents Committee (Chair), USTA Nominating Committee, and several other USTA National committees and task forces. Wong served a decade on the USTA Eastern Board of Directors and as a US Open Volunteer Coordinator. In addition to his USTA service, Wong serves as a board member of the Junior Tennis Foundation and as a founding board member of the Asian American Pacific Islander Tennis Association. Wong graduated from Binghamton University with a degree in Economics and is a Managing Director at Morgan Stanley, a leading global financial services firm that provides a wide range of investment banking, securities, wealth management, and investment management services. He is currently the Head of Private Banking Operations.
Brian Hainline, MD, serves his sixth term on the USTA Board of Directors, now as Immediate Past President. Hainline previously served on the USTA Board of Directors as Director at Large in 2007-08, where he was Board Liaison to the Community Tennis Council. He returned to serve as Director at Large in 2017-18, where he was Board Liaison to the Player Development Council; as Vice President in 2019-20, where he was Vice Chair of the Budget Committee and Board Liaison to the Sectional Associations, and as First Vice President in 2021-22. Hainline served as President of the USTA from 2023-2024. Hainline played No. 1 singles and doubles in his senior year at the University of Notre Dame, where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa (philosophy) before going on to earn his M.D. at the University of Chicago and his neurology specialty at The New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center. Hainline was a founding member of the USTA Sport Science Committee and has been a member of the International Tennis Federation Sport Science and Medicine Commission since 1993, serving as chair since 2003. He was the Chief Medical Officer of the US Open Tennis Championships for 16 years and held the same title for the USTA for four years. He served as the first Chief Medical Officer of the NCAA from 2013 through May 2024. Hainline is an accomplished author, having authored/edited nine books (including Positioning Youth Tennis for Success) and over 100 chapters and peer-reviewed articles. He is actively involved as a volunteer in sports medicine organizations, having served as co-chair of the 2016 International Olympic Committee Consensus Meeting on Pain Management in Elite Athletes, and will be co-chair of the 2 nd IOC Consensus Meeting on Mental Health in Elite Athletes in June 2025. He was a member of the Expert Panel on the 2022 6th International Consensus Meeting on Concussion in Sport, and served as chair of the first-ever international sport-specific mental health summit (Mental Health in Tennis Summit) in 2022. Hainline is a member of the WTA Tour Player Development Advisory Panel, is a Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine and the American Academy of Neurology, and is Clinical Professor of Neurology at NYU Grossman School of Medicine.
