MID-ATLANTIC LEAGUE

APPEAL INFORMATION

April 1, 2017

MID-ATLANTIC LEAGUE

APPEAL INFORMATION

The following information provides the necessary steps for filing a ratings appeal and for medical appeals. Please read the information carefully.

Championship Players

You are not applicable for appeal for ONE YEAR after playing in championship matches, but are allowed to appeal up if you qualify. This is a National regulation so no exceptions will be granted.

Appeal Computer (C), Mixed (M), Tournament (T) Rating

No appeal forms are necessary. Visit TennisLink and follow these steps:

 1. On the right, toward the top, click "find a rating"

 2. When the page appears, type in your USTA NUMBER – NOT YOUR NAME

 3. Select "GO" and your rating will appear

 4. There is an option to appeal your rating in blue

If your rating is in appeal range, your appeal will automatically be granted. Otherwise, you will be advised that your appeal has been denied. If denied, you have no further recourse unless you qualify for filing a medical appeal.

If your appeal is granted and you have already registered on a team, contact Cassie Nocera in the Section office with your request that the rating is changed on your roster and provide the following:

 • Name

 • USTA number

 • Your team number

Important Notes:

 • YOU CAN ONLY APPEAL ONCE

 • The above procedure is not to determine whether your rating is within .05 or .10

 • Captains do not appeal on behalf of players

Appeal Self “S” Rating

If you are seeking a higher self-rating, follow the procedure above.

If you are seeking a lower self-rating and you did not appeal online during the self-rating process, please complete a Self-Rate Appeal Form here. You may mail the form to the Section office or email it to Cassie Nocera.

You will be notified by email as to whether your appeal was granted or denied. Self-rate appeals take approximately one week to process. Processing times may be longer during the holiday season. Please ensure you appeal early in the registration period.

If your appeal is granted and you have already registered on a team, contact Cassie Nocera in the Section office with your request that the rating is changed on your roster and provide the following:

 • Name

 • USTA number

 • Your team number

Filing a Medical Appeal

To file a medical appeal, complete and mail the Medical Appeal form with the $50 appeal fee payable to USTA MAS. The fee will be refunded if your appeal is granted. Medical appeals can take several weeks to process.

There is no deadline for filing a medical appeal.

Medical appeals will not process unless every item of the form is complete.

All medical appeals MUST be accompanied by a letter from your treating physician stating the date the injury/condition occurred, the nature of your injury/condition, your prognosis and treatment rendered, and whether the injury/condition is permanently disabling. Your physician must also complete the Attending Physician's Statement found here. Your medical appeal will NOT be accepted if this information is missing.

You will be notified by email as to whether your appeal was granted or denied.

All appeals can be mailed to:
