- LEVEL 1 TOURNAMENT
- The USTA has announced that a new Level 1 junior event will be added to the 2021 calendar. The USTA Sections Invitational Championships will be held May 1-5 during the currently scheduled L3 segment and will be held at eight different locations throughout the country. The event will feature 128-player draws in the 12s, 14s, 16s, and 18s age divisions for both boys and girls and the fields will be entirely determined by Section generated lists. Each USTA Sectional Association can use its own set of qualification factors to determine its respective player entries. This event was created as part of the USTA’s ongoing efforts to create more play opportunities for juniors and to ensure there are equitable opportunities for players to earn valuable rankings points. More details can be found on the respective tournament homepages.

- PNW Selection Process - The upcoming Level 1 Sections Invitational tournament, May 1-5, was added to the National schedule to create more play opportunities for juniors and to ensure there are equitable opportunities for players to earn valuable ranking points who may have been previously held out of tournaments due to the ranking errors in the transition to the National ranking system. Due to these errors, players were unable to play in many of the National tournaments at the beginning of 2021. Selection for the Level 1 tournament is at the discretion of each Section. After reviewing all factors with our Junior Competition Committee, we have decided to utilize UTR for selection into the upcoming Sections Invitation Tournament May 1-5. The UTR as of Friday, April 2 at 10:00 am PDT will be used.
