SPORTIME Randall’s Island/John McEnroe Tennis Academy (JMTA) in New York City was awarded the USTA Member Organization of the Year Award at the USTA Annual Meeting & Conference in Orlando, Fla.
First awarded in 1981 to annually recognize the support of the USTA mission by its members, the USTA presents this award to an organization that best exemplifies service to the community, to its members through junior and adult programs, and to the game of tennis.
As the flagship location for SPORTIME Clubs and JMTA, SPORTIME Randall’s Island provides comprehensive, high-quality programming that supports the USTA’s mission by encouraging lifelong participation, competitive development, and inclusive community access. As the largest tennis academy in the U.S. and a leading producer of USTA National event participants, JMTA features a structured player development pathway, from "SPORTIME Bounce" for youth to advanced training for high-performance juniors.
The club offers year-round recreational and competitive programs for both juniors and adults, including clinics, private instruction, leagues, match play, USTA Eastern League teams, and sanctioned tournaments.
Additionally, it hosts the JMTA Summer Tennis Training Camp and provides members with supportive services, including athletic training, physical therapy, and performance recovery.
SPORTIME Randall’s Island is also home to the Johnny Mac Tennis Project (JMTP), which provides free weekly tennis instruction to more than 1,500 New York City public school students and awards full scholarships each year to more than 50 talented juniors based on financial need and merit. Beyond tennis, JMTP maximizes opportunities for these young people by also providing educational, social, and mentorship support.
“The team at SPORTIME Randall’s Island and JMTA has created something truly special,” said Brian Vahaly, USTA President and interim co-CEO. “They are developing players, mentoring young people, and building a lifelong connection to the game. Their impact across the tri-state area is significant, and their commitment to excellence shows up in everything they do.”
SPORTIME Randall’s Island/JMTA is the world’s largest indoor tennis club and academy, serving approximately 4,000 active members and more than 10,000 players and students weekly.
