Position Title: Junior Teams Intern
Report To: Manager of Junior Team Tennis
A. PURPOSE OF POSITION
Provide a summer internship that assists USTA Northern in its mission to promote and develop the growth of tennis with specific responsibilities related to USTA Junior Team Tennis (JTT).
B. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
JTT Program Management
1. Assist in scheduling Twin Cities League.
2. Create extra matches in the schedule, as needed.
3. Check player eligibility.
4. Update coach contact databases.
5. Assist with special projects, as needed.
JTT Event Support
1. Assist with Team Challenges and Team Tournaments.
2. Order prizes and manage extra activities at Section Championships.
3. Assist with Score Entry and Championship administration at Section Championships.
C. WORK SCHEDULE
Late May – End of June
Approximately 30-40 hours per week in an office environment. ADVERTISEMENT Monday through Friday office hours are 9am - 5pm.
July – Early August
Approximately 30-40 hours per week with a combination of office work and time at various championship sites. You can expect longer hours during the week of Championships. Important event dates below.
● July 22-28: JTT Section Championships
1. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
2. Strong attention to detail and follow through.
3. Strong computer skills (Microsoft and Google Suite).
4. Knowledge of and interest in tennis.
5. Experience with social media.
6. Past experience working tennis events is desired.
7. Pass a background check.
8. Reliable transportation to/from office and championship sites.
E. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands or fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
F. CONDITIONS OF THE INTERNSHIP
USTA Northern is pleased to provide an opportunity for interns to learn and grow in their professional development. Interns are temporary employees who are hired to perform limited duties. Interns shall work the hours set by their direct supervisor. Internship position includes a $10 per hour wage and does not include benefits. All reimbursement for travel expenses must be approved by the direct supervisor. All service with USTA Northern is at will and may be terminated at any time by the intern or USTA Northern with or without cause or notice. A courtesy of at least 2 weeks notice is requested for all resignations.
If the internship is being completed for course credit, the intern shall discuss the requirements and any necessary paperwork with their direct supervisor.

Level 1 includes 4-6 year old beginners: Level 2 is for 7-11 year old beginners and Level 3 is for 7 year olds and up who would like to learn more intermediate and advanced skills and strategy through games, drills and demonstrations. Classes meet twice per week for 3 weeks. Job tasks include teaching and demonstrating tennis skills and providing for the safety of the children. Previous teaching experience preferred.

University of Minnesota Club Tennis Team
The University of Minnesota Club Tennis Team is looking for a coach for the 2018-19 season to assist the team in its mission to create a fun and competitive tennis community on campus. The coach is expected to provide tennis instruction to all students on the team, come prepared to each practice with a plan that includes both drills and games, assist students in technique and strategy and work and communicate with the executive board. The team practices two nights a week, and the coach is expected to attend all practices and also has the option to travel with the team, but traveling is not required.
