USTA PNW HALL OF FAME INDUCTEES

USTA Pacific Northwest | August 12, 2022

USTA PNW is proud to announce the 2022 Hall of Fame induction class . USTA PNW has a mission to promote and grow the game of tennis by engaging children, adults and families in every neighborhood in the Pacific Northwest. The stellar group of inductees this year have contributed to the game of tennis in impressive ways, and are an excellent example of the USTA PNW mission.

USTA PNW Hall of Fame serves two purposes: to pay tribute to a select group of individuals who went above and beyond for the game of tennis, and to honor these individuals with a tax-deductible gift to the USTA PNW scholarship fund.

The USTA PNW scholarship fund helps to increase access and provide play opportunities to low-income or income-restricted children throughout Oregon, Washington, Alaska and Northern Idaho.

Each individual has been nominated and supported for designation as an inductee by colleagues, teammates, friends, or others who find them deserving of this honor. To celebrate and honor our 2022 Hall of Fame class, a feature will be released on every individual in the coming weeks. Additionally, please click here to support their contributions to the game of tennis. This year USTA PNW is excited to announce the nomination of the following inductees:

Anthony Anderson

A harrowing accident left Anthony Anderson a paraplegic, and through the help of others, he found wheelchair tennis, in an era where it was finding its prominence. He played nationally and grew to play internationally where he achieved a career-high world ranking of 15 through his 30-year playing career.

Jan Michael Gambill

Jan-Michael Gambill is an American former professional tennis player. His career-high singles ranking is world No. 14, which he achieved in 2001, and he has also reached the quarterfinals of the 2000 Wimbledon Championships, the final of the 2001 Miami Masters, and won three singles titles throughout his career.

Mike Tammen

Mike Tammen is ranked #1 in the USA in singles and doubles multiple times, and has won in excess of 50 gold balls at National Championships in singles and doubles. He has represented the USA 17 times in the World age group Team Championships and has won 5 World Individual Titles.

Marceil Whitney has provided tennis to thousands of students every year for more than 40 years locally through her Teenie Tennis programs with Redmond Parks and Rec. In 2003, she started Tennis Outreach Programs to provide tennis to underserved youth, and she is the founding member of TOPs Eastside Tennis Center.
