NEW OFFICIALS INCENTIVE PROGRAM
Interested in becoming a USTA certified umpire? USTA NorCal is currently offering an incentive for new umpires.
Upon obtaining Provisional Umpire certification new official will receive a copy of Friend at Court and a USTA tape measure. Please see below for requirements to become a certified as a provisional umpire.
Upon completion of Sectional Umpire certification new official will receive a USTA umpire shirt (long or short sleeve). To become a Sectional Umpire, prospective umpire must meet the requirements to become a provisional umpire, officiate on court for five days and complete the Roving 2 online training module.

REQUIREMENTS TO BECOME A PROVISIONAL UMPIRE
1) Become a USTA Member
3) Complete the Introduction to Officiating, Rules and Regulations modules, and Roving 1 to complete the testing requirement for Provisional Certification. In order to complete certification as a Sectional Umpire, in addition to working five days as an official, you will need to complete Roving 2. Access Courses
4) Have a vision certification form completed by an eye doctor attesting to 20/20 vision either in each eye and in both eyes together corrected or uncorrected. To access the vision form, click here.
Upon completion of the Background Screening Check, the vision requirement, the Introduction to Officiating, Rules and Regulations modules, and Roving 1, you will be certified as a Provisional Umpire. A Roving Umpire Workshop, 5 on court days at USTA tournaments and completion of the Roving 2 online training module are then required to be certified as a Sectional Umpire.

Additional certification requirements exist for Referee, Line Umpire, Chair Umpire and ITA certifications.
REFEREE: Requirements as above for Sectional Umpire, plus courses entitled Referee 1 and Referee 2
LINE UMPIRE: Requirements as above for Sectional Umpire, plus Line Umpire 1.
CHAIR UMPIRE: Requirements as above for Sectional Umpire, plus Chair Umpire 1.
