Qualifying for NTRP Nationals

The NTRP National Championships are national adult tournaments that leverage the NTRP rating system as a way to create level-based competition at the 18 & over, 40 & over, and 55 & over age groups. Each year, NTRP National Champions are crowned in men’s and women’s singles, doubles and mixed doubles at the 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5, 5.0, and 5.5 levels in the 18 & over age group, and at the 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5 and 5.0 levels in the 40 & over, and 55 & over age groups.

USTA Missouri Valley adult tournament players who participate in NTRP tournaments throughout most of 2026, and into early 2027, have an opportunity to earn points and qualify for the 2027 NTRP National Championships being held in Feb/March of 2027. Selections for NTRP Nationals will be based on the Nationals Standings Lists (NSL) that are published just prior to the registration deadline for the specific 2027 NTRP National Championships desired.

How to earn points and qualify in USTA Missouri Valley in 2026 for the 2027 NTRP National Championships (Spring of 2027):

  • Participate in USTA sanctioned adult tournaments that have NTRP divisions.
  • Finish as the top-ranked qualified player (or qualified doubles team) from USTA Missouri Valley on the last published National Standings list (NSL) prior to the NTRP National Championship entry deadline.

  • Receive an endorsement from USTA Missouri Valley to attend the NTRP National Championships.

  • Meet all ratings/eligibility requirements.
  • Must be in good standing with USTA Missouri Valley Section.

USTA Missouri Valley typically has one (1) NTRP National Championship spot available in each of the NTRP divisions. In order to be endorsed by the section and receive the invitation from USTA Missouri Valley, players must meet the selection criteria. [Please note: This is a National Tournament Championship, NOT a National League Championship.]

For 18 & Over age groups (Men's, Women's and Mixed):

The player who holds the top position from USTA Missouri Valley on the last published National Standings list (NSL) prior to the NTRP National Championship entry deadline for each division (2.5, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5, 5.0, 5.5 men's and women's singles and doubles and mixed) will be invited to attend the 2027 USTA National Championships as the section's representative.

For 40 & Over and 55 & Over age groups (Men's and Women's):

The player who holds the top position on the USTA Missouri Valley list on the last published National Standings list (NSL) prior to the NTRP National Championship entry deadline for each division (3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5, 5.0 men's and women's singles and doubles) will be invited to attend the 2027 USTA National Championships as the section's representative.

NOTE: * If a player is moved up and would have been selected at the lower level based on the last NSL prior to entries closing, then the player may (will) participate at the higher level and this player will not count against a Section’s quota. This player must register at their current level otherwise they will be considered an alternate.

If no players are eligible or listed on the USTA Missouri Valley's last NSL prior to entries closing, the spot may be left vacant and offered to another USTA section.

NTRP Verification:

  • Players must have a valid NTRP (C, A, T, or D) rating at the time of entries closing. Players with a valid Mixed Exclusive (M) rating may use this rating for the Mixed Doubles only. Players with a Self (S) rating will not be accepted. If a player with a T or M rating is required to Self-Rate to play USTA League, these players may still register if their T or M rating was valid when they self rated.
