Keys, Paul enter Top 10 as Americans dominate WTA, ATP singles rankings
Six Americans sit inside the Top 10 of the WTA and ATP singles rankings following the 2025 Australian Open, with Melbourne champion Madison Keys and quarterfinalist Tommy Paul the newest members of the elite club.
Behind a historic run to her first Grand Slam title, Keys left Melbourne as the world No. 7, matching her career high from 2016. Paul broke into the Top 10 for the first time Monday after reaching the quarters for the second time in the past three Grand Slams.
Keys is joined in the WTA's Top 10 by world No. 3 Coco Gauff, No. 6 Jessica Pegula and No. 9 Emma Navarro, with Danielle Collins (who was in the Top 10 as recently as November) close behind at No. 12. Gauff and Navarro both advanced to the quarterfinals at the Australian Open, while Collins and Pegula reached the third round. No other nation has more than one player in the WTA's Top 10.
On the men's side, Paul joins world No. 4 Taylor Fritz in the Top 10, with No. 14 Ben Shelton, No. 18 Frances Tiafoe and No. 22 Sebastian Korda also in the Top 25. Shelton was a semifinalist in Melbourne, matching Paul's result from the 2023 Australian Open and his own run at the 2023 US Open. The four Americans in the singles Top 20 and five in the Top 25 are both the most of any nation.
Paul's Top 10 debut comes more than five years after he first broke into the Top 100 in September 2019. He has not left that group since and has been a staple in the Top 20 since early 2023.
The 19-year-old Learner Tien entered the Top 100 himself after his breakout run in Melbourne, where he beat Daniil Medvedev en route to the fourth round. Alex Michelsen, who upset Stefanos Tsitsipas on his way to the fourth round, hit a new career high of No. 36 after his best major showing.
